Looking to win both of the next 2 series, this is when you make ground, no excuses.

Winning four out of six is a disappointment when you have The Great Kyle "Babe" Schwarber on your team.

Who is so great he rides the pine today for a catcher who isn't even hitting his weight.

Don't question Joe Maddon. Just wait until he installs a tiger habitat in the clubhouse.

Tragedy at Wrigley Field this evening, as Cubs relief pitcher Jason Motte was mauled to death by a circus tiger that was being housed in the clubhouse.

You do see Maddon out of the dugout every game, on every call. He worksthe umps, he is in their heads, they know he is going to challenge it...and yet, they get along with him.

I know the JORR theory on coaches dont mean dick, but this is exactly one of the things I always want my manager doing, being in the ear of the umps...without getting them pissed. Make sure they know you saw them fuck up and they owe you one...I dont care what sport it is.

"The circus tiger that they traded from Detroit for Castro and Baez."

So Cub like, if only the Tiger would have mauled Strop, we would be leading the division.

For the record, I want Price not Hamel. I was being a hipster with the Hamel comment.

That's not exactly my theory. Coaches mean a tremendous amount in football. They mean a lot in college basketball. A baseball manager is more a matter of fit/personality than about the decisions he makes. He just doesn't have that much control. Either the players hit, pitch, and field or they don't. Maddon didn't make Castro worse and he didn't make Rizzo better. I do think a guy with a certain approach can make a difference. When Ventura replaced Ozzie he was exactly the type of guy that club needed and they nearly won the division. But managers have a shelf life. Like dolphin pointed out, the guys in Tampa all said that after awhile Maddon wore them out with his antics and they just wanted to play ball.

After that, how many series can they lose and it is no big deal?

Good question.

According to some experts on the subject the Cubs are a year early or right on time. According to them they win the World Series next year no matter what. Or whatever, now fans just want to be competitive.

The Jewish Cabal at the Gates of Wrigley will see that the prophecy is completed as foretold.

I'm surprised Maddon isn't universally proclaimed a genius for batting the pitcher 8th every game.

I will agree managers have a shelf life...and that expiration is what they make it. Dont come up with new crap, makes it tough...and at that point you need to become Sciossa and rely upon the veterans.

Vets become the managers and the coach becomes the president...

Yet, I am very happy to have had Renteria and think he did a fine job, still happy to have Joe.

Cubs are hoping for Hamel to be moved before tomorrow...or better yet, to be pulled in the second inning

They are just not "that good".
They're good, WAY better than last year. But do not give up stud prospects for rental pitchers.
Let's just hang on and pay for them next year, plus keep our prospects/players.

Hopefully they don't lose more than 4 of 6 at this point.

Is 13 of 14 with soon to be 16 of 17 an OK recovery?
