Kirkwood whistling by the graveyard much like Jamel's fastballs past cub bats

The parking lots have to go, and I think a force outside the Sox control will make that happen.

This is absolute BS. You have no idea what you are talking about

Every single map and survey proves my point. How many Cubs vanity plates do you see in the city? How many Cubs flags outside Lakeview? The only people who think the Cubs have any real presence in the city think the entire city is N of Diversey and E of Western. The Cubs can have the Big 10 frat crowd as far as I'm concerned.

Entire city, no, but the north side does have much higher population density. I'm sure you could find Cubs fans well west of Western Avenue, too.

Also, the glitch in that "Sox own all of Cook County" thing would be the NW burbs in the panhandle, which are as solidly Cubs as Wrigleyville. Or are they no true Cook County?

Agreed... If you are giving tickets away for 30-40 cents on the dollar n struggling to put asses in seats .. Gotta relocate.

You'll find them everywhere. I knew a girl from Beverly who was a Cubs fan. But you'll find Yankees fans everywhere, the 100 Yankees fans in Kings Co WA doesn't make Seattle a "Yankees town."

Once you get W of the Tri-State you're in Iowa AFAIK. I know nothing of what happens there.

I'm not even as tribal as I used to be regarding this shit, I've learned the virtue of LaGrange, Skokie, Evanston etc. and really shun the whole city vs suburb thing. But only to an extent, if you're living way out in the sticks (outside of Cook, past the airport) you're making a concious decision to make your life intentionally pointless.

Then you shouldn't have such a cavalier attitude toward the suburbs. I had to go to high school in Lake Geneva; I will not stand idly by while someone compares Des Plaines to Iowa. Des Plaines would have been a vector of culture and sophistication for me.

More than 3:2, a hell of a lot less than 10:1.

The fact that there were more Sox license plates sold than Cub plates suggests that the amount of local fans is about equal. The Cubs (or more likely Wrigley Field) have far more fans from outside the Chicago area.

The teams have different types of fanbases. The Cubs have an ever changing local fan base made up of bros who live near the park and attend many games for a few years. Once Kirkwood is married and living in Naperville he'll go as often as the average Sox fan.

Or that Cubs fans are wary of being pulled over by some asshole Irish cop.

 The typical Cub fan metamorphoses like a butterfly. As a child his dad takes him to one or two games per season (the egg stage). He moves to Broville after studying accounting at a Big Ten university and attends 10-12 games a year (the pupa stage). Then he moves in with a girlfriend in Lincoln Park or the West Loop and cuts back to five or six (the larvae stage). Finally, he marries and moves to Schaumburg or Arlington Heights and only attends when someone comps him a ticket. This is the adult stage also known as the Scorehead stage.

More than 3:2, a hell of a lot less than 10:1.

I'd say it's probably a minimum of 10:1 with more like 15:1 or 20:1. In 5-10 years it'll probably jump to like 25:1.

The franchise does nothing to endear itself to fans. They actively antagonize their fans with attendance shaming, bitchy coaches, shitty promotions and a terrible on-field product.

It's no wonder there are maybe 100K Sox fans maximum left in Chicago/NW Indiana.

You can't wake a sleeping giant when it's never been a giant nor is it sleeping...it's dead.

The Sox aren't moving, ever, and if they did, MLB would put a new team in right away.

The attendance is bad because the team is bad, which is pretty much how it should operate with professional sports. No one thought the Blackhawks should move to North Dakota when no one was going to those games.

Though, a move to the suburbs for the Sox would be awesome.

I'm not sure how much stock to put into it, but based on Facebook likes, as of 2014 the Sox did in fact own Cook County, as well as Will, Kankakee, and Lake County Indiana.

People are forgetting that baseball is a dying sport. There is going to be a much smaller pie.

The team with competent ownership, management and on-field product will be snapping up more and more of that pie.

It's already a lost cause. Better to admit defeat and capture the eyes of a new market.
