a cornerstone philosophy of The(o) Plan

but hey, drinky said the Tigers would be stupid not to trade Price for Alcantara, so I guess this is correct

Drinky should immolate himself for all his sports thoughts , rise like a phoenix from the ashes then immolate himself again for his "comedy".

Both members of the Hit and Shit show this weekend were pleading with teams to give their aces to the Cubs for nothing...but remember, they gave up their rooting interests when they became members of the media

Ironically, the Cub pitching is fine. It's those vaunted bats that leave something to be desired. But don't worry. They're all going to get magically better next year.

Its not fine...its OK at best....

Cant ask for guys like Fowler to return to a .275 hitter from .225, same for Castro....then think Hammel is going to stay as good as he did and not drop to his normal 2nd half. Players return to the norm, I agree. Sometimes it is too late, but if you sue the theory guys will come back to their averages, works in the inverse too.

Lotsa arms in the offseason to buy as well.

Hmm I think you were hearing imaginary radio. I listened to the entire show and heard nothing of the sort. In fact they said several times they would be dumb to trade for someone this season that they could sign in the offseason.

Wasn't Hammel gutting it out wearing a leg brace yesterday? When he's 100%,he has performed very well for the Cubs.

David Price is not going to improve the Cubs offense.

Then their fans need to stop thinking about the offseason. They've only been doing that for 107 years.

Its rare to have 3 Legit Aces be unrestricted free agents in the same year. The Cubs are getting one of em . Abattaclueless is probably the dumbest SOB @ the Score .

Now, tell the truth. The opinion that you stated, led directly to what I wrote. Nobody is going to give up their top prospects so the Tigers would be lucky to get an offer of a mid level guy like Alcantara. I'd say it was sometime between the 10:15-11;15 hour.

Correct. Every single year all Cub fans think their team is going to the postseason.

Rozner picked the White Sox to reach the World Series. Your narrative is bunk.

They were not pleading with teams to give up their aces for nothing.

They said they should not unload any top prospects for someone they could sign in the offseason. And if a the Tigers were open to trading for prospects like Alcantara then you move ahead.

But again, there was no pleading for teams to give up aces for nothing. That simply never happened.

like I said to Nas when he said the same thing, that's how it works, the Cubs say they want and poof, they get. There are no other teams with money to spend and a need at starting pitcher.

This might be their best shot at winning a World Series. You have to try when you have the chance. Or I guess you can shut down Strasburg when you have a real good chance so he can go 5-5 a few years later.

Really? It might be. There are no standout teams this year and the Mets pitching figures to be tough to beat going forward. But by all means, hang onto those prized prospects!

Keep hope alive, Kirkwood. That's the beauty of hope. It's always about next year when things are better.

Just because you do not want to see them go crazy at the trade deadline does not mean you are giving up on this season and waiting till next year.

But you can't have it both ways. Either you're trying to win this season or you're waiting 'til next year. Again. I think we all know which it is. Let me know when next year arrives.
