I was trying to go sans cable, with Netflix on the PS3, and news/sporting events on the laptop to make a 90$ bill cost about 8$ but its just not gonna work

Especially with baseball coming back.

Hopefully they give me the new customer discount, even though I cancelled 2 months ago

Yeah, sports is the only thing that's keeping me subscribed to any cable. Fucking local game blackouts...

I would gladly pay $100/season if I could get access to Cubs games online. Same goes for Bulls too. I don't need the other 500 channels.

Check out this toolbar I have :Tenchisty. They have everything.I mean everything.MLB,NHL,NFL,English Soccor,European Soccor PPV all free. for a fee you can get movies and other stuff.

Exhibit A in Spanky's choice of music.

Dude, you CHOSE to go to a Bon Jovi concert last year. You really wanna go down this road???

Correction I went to a Kid Rock show and Bon Jovi happened to be there as well. After Kid Rock I got drunk and I don't really remember anything about Bon Jovi.

Right now,I'm at 136 for phone, internet & cable. I have HBO and just got a DVR. Those DVR's are really nice. I used to have my own video (DVD) recorder, but this works out much nicer. I get the DVR free for 3 months. When the price goes up,I just call back in to see what I can get. With Comcast, never settle!

Dish Network is by far the best value when it comes to TV.

If cable went the way of ala carte stations, my guess is a lot of them would end up like the premium movie stations. ESPN isn't going to want to bury "the Ocho" because people only want 1, 2 or news.

I pay $14 a month for HBO that includes 15-ish channels.

You want ESPN, it $15/month for all of them. TBS or TNT would be the Turner Broadcasting package for another $15. Same for MTV/VH-1.

I've seen studies on the a la carte model, and the result is that most people would end up paying about the same. Think about it...while you wouldn't have to pay for Lifetime, MTV, etc., other viewers wouldn't be paying for ESPN, CNBC, etc., which would ultimately result in higher prices for "your" channels. So instead of paying for 100 channels at an average of $1 a pop, you'd have 20 channels at $5 each. And if the cost is the same, it's better to have peace of mind knowing you have all the channels ('cause you know you'll need to see something on a channel you don't subscribe to).

Update: So I first put this thread up the day I called them to let them know I wanted an install for the 28th of this month, the c/a I talked to seemed to have a little trouble with the order as the previous owner of where we are moving to was still in the house and hadn't at yet cancelled his service at the address so they were having a hard time processing my order. Took a few minutes but he seemed to get things straightened out. Told me I had to go to one of the service centers no later than 3 days before the installation date to confirm everything and make sure I had proper ID. So went there today, and found out that not only had my order for service been cancelled ( which nobody fucking bothered to call and tell me) that I in fact cannot get new service scheduled or installed until the previous owners service is officially stopped which is on the 25th. Then and only then can I schedule my service to start, and of course they cannot guarantee it will be installed on the date I want it. So basically everything the original csa told me was utter bullshit. If ever a fucking company deserves to have some maniacal disgruntled customer go in and shoot up the place its Comcast by a fucking mile. I hate these cocksuckers more than I hate BernStine which is saying something.

I don't think Ive ever dealt with a more incompetent group of people in all my life than I have with Comcast through the years Doug. Its truly amazing how inept they are.

Success. They had a planned raise of Preferred Double Play (w/ 75 Mbps Blast interner) with HD DVR to $119.99 + $10 HD + $9.95 DVR. (Orginally was $89.99 + $10 HD + $9.95 DVR)

I got it down to $99.99 for Preferred Double Play and the $20 for X1 HDDVR reduced to $7.99. Also 24 months instead of 12 months.

HBO Included.

Billing department didn't want to work with me...transferred to sales department...a couple of mentions about AT&T....was handled quickly from there. comcast.net live chat.

Since Clear ended its consumer service, I added Comcast Internet. I bought the fastest connection, and I get about 125MBS on the direct connected computer. But their router/wifi connection is such a joke. It has a weak signal, and speeds can be lower than 10MBS in much of the house.

Would Google fiber please come to West Dundee? I didn't think so.

Use your own router and modem. Saves you money in the long run, and it works better.

I have a Motorola SB6121 and a Linksys E3000. I have the Comcast 75 Mbps blast but it tests at about 89 Mbps downspeed. Get that same speed on all devices on the wifi.

Buy your own modem and router, but check with Comcast first, to ensure compatibility.

Surprise, surprise, I am having issues with OnDemand. I just called the 888 number, and I got a message saying the office is closed, and was disconnected. WTF?

I did that. Then, I unplugged it, and waited thirty seconds, plugged it back in, restart. Same shit.

It's not all of the OnDemand channels. HBO OnDemand works. I tried to put something on for the kids on BabyFirst, and I get a message saying that I can watch this program free, with a subscription. We have been watching this shit for five years, without an issue.

I called yesterday, and they tried to send a signal to my box. Nothing. I called today, same result. Now, I have to wait for some other knob to call me, and not do shit. But, at least I get a credit of $15.08 on my next bill.

I wish I had another option, that didn't include signing a two year contract.
