Contracts mean nothing with Comcast. The termination fee is $75.00, and that reduces by $15 every three months. Besides, as I did yesterday...you can always get a new bundle deal even during that period.

Threaten to cancel with billing but say you need x and y...they will eventually transfer you to sales and sales will hook you up. And if you don't have an X1 box, use the time to upgrade that also.

I made a move down to Marietta, GA this month and my subdivision has no alternatives to broadband that i can find. At&T said they couldn't even run DSL to me. That left me with only comcast as i planned to be working remotely down here.

It hurts my soul how much a loath them already. I signed up with them online, they have a sales person call me, confirm me and off we go. They sent me a confirmation email with the package and I'm done. So far so good. Fast forward 2 weeks they cycle my first bill. They are overcharging me by 20 dollars a month.

After 3 different calls ranging from 60-90 minutes getting bounced from sales/retention/customer solution, I finally got to someone that said they would not be honoring what ever I "claim" to have received and that I have received the best they are prepared to offer. What the fuck is this. I literally have an email of what they agreed to, and I recreated the offer so it wasn't a 1 time mistake. I swear they know i have no alternative for broadband so they don't have to negotiate and know i'm bent over Jim Hendry's Barrel. I've forwarded a claim into the BBB to see if they have any input. I love a good monopoly.

I'm talking about Dish or DirectTV. They require two year contracts. For some reason, UVerse is unavailable here.

We call them every March, after they jack up our bill. We have one of the highest tiered packages that they offer, so there isn't much more they can add. Increasing my internet speed much of a perk for me. This shit is already faster than I need.

We have the X1 platform.

My bro in law gave us the number of some guy who is high up the food chain at Comcast. When we have major issues, we go directly to him. I may have to call him today.

I don't know about high tiers. I don't / won't use that stuff. I already have about 200 more channels than I'd ever consider watching, and 75 Mbps rated internet is faster than any home needs. At first, they tried to get me to add home security or a landline...that is annoying. I'm sure they know it is annoying.

How much do you pay? I assume for Triple Play?

For 100 bucks I got this for modem/wireless
Wireless up to 300MBPS - $20
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001FW ... ge_o06_s00

Modem 60 bucks - supports 172 download/131 upload
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XC ... ge_o09_s00

My package is for 25MBPS that tested out as 30 wired into the modem, and 30 almost anywhere in the house with the modem on the upper level. In the finished basement I was getting a 27-29 connection speed consistently. Your break even is probably 8 months of renting their crap.

Those two work well together? I can tell you the Comcast one I have is terrible right now? I am seriously thinking of doing that combo.

I have no doubts the modem is solid, reviews well and it worked immediately with no issues. It took me a few tries to get wireless set up and I immediately ran into speed issues. But I believe that to have been a VPN tunnel issue with my work. As soon as i connected, i was getting a .5-5MBPS speed. But I don't think that is related to the wireless at all. I'm getting 12 right now, but will disconnect and re-run.

******As soon as I dropped my tunnel wireless had me back to 30. Its solid.******

All of their hardware is absolute junk.

We have the X1 platform, and two boxes. You can't even pause live TV on the secondary box. What the fuck is that?

Triple play, $250 per month.

We have HBO, Showtime, all the sports I could ever need. I love the programming. They have more HD channels than the competition, it's just their hardware sucks.

I switched to WOW cable a few years back. I bought my own reconditioned modem off of Amazon for 15 bucks. Works great and saves me 8 bucks a month. I currently pay 115.00 for the double play.I get a DVR + just added an HD receiver in the bedroom for 1 year free when a WOW rep mistakenly told me no charge for an HD upgrade. WOW stuck by that deal and will give it to me free for one year. The wifi works fine.

EDIT: No HBO,but hardly watched that anyway. I do have the extended sports channels.

Done. Absolutely every single piece of content on the planet, including every live cable/payperview channel in the world.

and guess what content i still don't watch? cable channels. they couldnt pay me to.

I can't believe more people don't look into this, Ike. Cable is legalized robbery.

And stealing it is actual robbery.

Its not theft. Its copyright infringement. Exact same thing as buying chinese knockoff electronics.

I just called Comcrap to see about lowering my bill. They have a promotion for the exact package I have now, but instead of it costing $224.99, it is $169.99. I keep all of the channels and fast internet that I had, there is no contract, and the price is good for the next two years.

Funny how they were willing to let you keep paying $225 until you called .

Now, if they would just fix my fucking OnDemand, so my kid can watch Color Crew and Harry the Bunny, everything will be swell.

Ok I ordered the modem router combo. I guess the cost of the equipment will pay for itself in less than a year, and then I will get better performance. Thanks for the recommendations. We'll see how it goes.

I'd avoid TP-Link on principle, but that specific router seemed to have good reviews on Amazon so I wish you luck. The SB6121 is a champion though.

I bought a nice router last year, but its range is horrible. Based on the reviews and low cost, I figured I'd try the TP I hate everything about Comcast, and I curse Clear for suspending their service. However, the direct connected Internet speed is fantastic and allows me to play LoL effectively.

I think you and Chus have built bridges in this thread. I hope it blossoms into a free trade pact or something. I can't keep up with his witty Seinfeld references.
