It would be quite the story for the Sox to come out of that hole and get a wildcard spot.

However, they are still 3.5 games out and have several teams in front of them and basically everyone in the entire AL is in the wildcard race. Not likely they can continue this pace that has won 6 in a row.

The Cubs on the other hand are playing their worst baseball of the year and are still only 2.5 games out and it is basically a 3 team race for the 2nd wildcard spot and will realistically come down to their head to head match ups with the Giants. Although the Mets may sneak past both of them.

The Cubs are not going to continue to play this bad and the Sox are not going to continue to play this good.

Reality is both teams will probably miss the wildcard. Cubs will finish with 84 wins and be 2 games out of the wild card and 3rd place in the central. Sox will finish with 79 wins and be several out of wildcard and in 4th place in the central.

The Cubs aren't really playing their worst baseball of the year though. They are a .500 team, like they've pretty much been since April ended.

The Sox on the other hand have been one of the best teams in baseball for the month of July. It may not be a fluke.

At 48-50, the White Sox can only aspire to be one.

It's a whole month of baseball and the numbers indicate that it is more than just a bunch of close games going their way.

So the Cubs good month was a fluke (They are a .500 team, like they've pretty much been since April ended.)and the other three months show what they truly are and the exact opposite is true of the Sox. Three months of sucking was dumb luck, this one month run is the real Sox.

3 months say they're terrible.

Phillies are 9-1 in their last 10.

Phillies/White Sox World Series?

For three straight months, the Cubs have been roughly a .500 team. RFDC was acting like the Cubs are just having a bad stretch. I'm not talking about April being a fluke for the Cubs. I'm saying right now, how they are playing in July, is like how they were playing in June, and in May.

Ok. Set the over/under on how the Sox do in August. We can bet on it. Deal?

I'm glad all the excitement in his real life has dissipated

Phillies just needed to get rid of Ryno.

30 games. They win 13 if everything breaks their way.

So the line should be set at 15.

An official state visit by Seacrest really gets the blood going but it is short lived

the truth is, the Sox came out of the ASG with lots of momentum only to crap the bed against division leaders KC and STL. I expect them to do the same with 16 or their 19 games in early August. The other 3 games will be wins against the Cubs
