So given that most in the NFL have quietly acknowledged that this isn't an uncommon practice, and hasn't been for years, lets hand out an appropriate sentence. And acknowledge the NFL for the cut throat, bottom line, bs league that it is.

And suspend everyone that the NFL has knowledge (or suspicion) of doing the same thing as Brady.

Or not.

I'd be in favor of this.

Please do the same for every QB that has been caught doing this in a game.

They did hand out an appropriate sentence though especially for it being known that it happened at least 3 times.

Not to mention, that Brady very easily could have gotten it knocked down to 2 games if he just said "Yeah, I did it. I didn't know it was that big of a deal".

Except he's saying that he didn't do it and Kraft is saying that the NFL is lying. I believe Kraft.

Kraft is a well respected guy with a lot of credibility. Also there is no proof any member of the Patriots team was responsible.

Didn't they suspend the 2 guys that were responsible for the footballs?

Yes.
The Pats look bad, over and over again in this.

They work for the organization. They aren't members of the team. Even after pressuring those workers and reviewing their text messages they still didn't find any evidence that a coach or player had knowledge.

This is really not that big of a deal. He should sack up and drop it. He got busted. Maybe he's done it for 10 years, but he got caught. Stop yourself before it gets worse, you headband wearing crybaby. :D

So the hard evidence of him cheating is what exactly?

The team and the organization are the same Nas, if they did nothing wrong why did they lose their jobs? Is it fair to suspend someone from their jobs if they did nothing wrong?

No he isn't. He was/is a powerful guy in the league though and very successful though.

His credibility was shot when he threatened the league and then backed down "for the good of the league".

Not to mention, spygate, which I'm sure was just another case of mistaken judgement.

That has NOTHING to do with Brady getting the same punishment as a guy that beat his wife and threw her on a couch full of gu s. There was no actual proof that the workers did it either. They just accepted the punishment because it would probably be hard for them to fight the shield.

He thought he was helping Brady by doing it. He didn't know about spygate. I take it you never heard about his conversation with Belichick?

Sounds like he doesn't know a lot, and makes a lot of bad decisions.

It's not a court of law.
It's a boss disciplining one of their employees for doing something on the job that makes the corporation look bad in a number of ways.

Besides, the NFL has nothing to gain as a league by suspending one of it's main attractions for no reason. The Patriots continue to trip over themselves during all of this - disciplining 2 of their own employees, owner accepting the initial penalties in the hopes of Brady's penalties being reduced, etc.

My guess is that Kraft and Brady have had some huge disagreements behind the scenes, because they clearly aren't been on the same page during all of this.

I am not arguing about it being the same punishment as someone that does the things that you have pointed, never stated it at all. The organization has a perception of cheating, period. Now you are in another situation and have suspended/terminated 2 employess for nothing, that just makes no sense to me.

That doesn't mean it is reality though. IMO to punish a team and player like this there should be some actual proof. Right now there is none.

I think there is plenty of reason to do it, as stated by several people above. Clearly you and I have a different view of it.

Well, it's murky enough it's, apparently (?), going to be a court of law soon.

Besides, if you're all for some half-assed reason to suspend someone 4 games, what happens if/when it gets levied against someone on a team you prefer to root for? That's my problem with it ... I don't care one way or the other for Brady - what I'm against is a completely ginned-up excuse to chop a quarter of a season out from under a player for literally no actual reason other than "fuck that guy".

One simply cannot applaud this suspension without concurrently saying they're okay with that type of "leadership" going forward.

Hawg there is no proof. All we have after 6 months is propaganda and circumstantial evidence.

And letting employess go for apparently no reason, oh and the owner accepting punishment because he hoped his prize quarterback would not be punished. Yes, there is some part of me that loves this as these arrogant pricks seem to always be around smoke, sometimes that gets ya burnt.

Huh? Why should an owner know a coach is cheating?
Because he is the guy who writes the checks, and the coach may be the second most important person in the organization.

But, let's assume that he had no clue about the cheating in spygate. Why should we care what he thinks about if Brady was cheating too?

There is proof but just like last time you refuse to acknowledge it. Is there enough proof for you? I don't know. To act like this was just invented out of thin air is just dumb though.

We'll see if he wins the lawsuit though.

Kraft is a very loyal guy. I think that is pretty clear. Players love him.

One tale the Globe story previews is New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft's reaction to the team's 2007 "Spygate" taping scandal.

"How much did this help us on a scale of 1 to 100?" Kraft reportedly asked Patriots coach Bill Belichick when the story came to light.

"One," Belichick replied.

"Then you're a real schmuck," Kraft said he told Belichick.

Which is why what he says doesn't really have any credibility.
