Three night run at Chicago Theater by My Morning Jacket gets going tonight. Should be good, since the last time they played here was at what felt like the crack of dawn for an abbreviated set on the Dylan tour a couple years ago.

They are doing two nights at the Riverside in Milwaukee. Thought about getting tickets but didn't pull the trigger. I haven't been to a show in a while.

Peoria Civic Center.

My boss has seen the Avetts multiple times and said it was the best show they had ever seen. And that Old Crow band brings the energy. Another thing I liked about it was you ordered the tickets from the Avett website and it eliminated a lot of fees.

I have never heard of the Avett Brothers, but now I have seen them mentioned twice in the last couple of days. They just got them to fill the last spot at Summer Fest.

Epic second set. If that is the last Rush show I ever see, I can die a happy man. SomeGuy: see them this tour - like nothing you have seen the last 10 years - Peart looks so comfortable behind the full-on kit, plus Lifeson/Lee on thr doublenecks.

Got those too, but more importantly, heading out to see them play Red Rocks in mid-August.

Isn't Geddy Lee's voice pretty much awful at this point?

I'm thinking of hitting the Wilco Solid Sound Festival on 6/26 in North Adams, MA.

Wilco is going to be performing an all-acoustic set, which I find intriguing.

He hasn't regularly done the "early, shrieky" voice for about 30 years. Overall his voice hasn't been too great the last couple of tours, but Friday was the best he's sounded in a few years. Hey, he's 62, and can still hit it about 90% of the time. At least his voice isn't completely shot like DLR's - yikes!

Rockstar Energy Drink "Mayhem Fest" is tonight in Milwaukee. Slayer, King Diamond, Hellyeah.

i think the Summer Festivals are stupid. I'm going because Slayer is there, but will enjoy seeing King Diamond. What's most amusing is I ran across this article.
http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/heavy- ... o-founder/

What a bitch. Your festival is stupid by design. Ironically, Slayer actually sells better on their own than in this stupid package of bad.

Just found out about this one today, not sure how it got by me. Some pretty good acts pulled together by Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon.
A lot of stuff I like anyway.

HOLY SHIT GUYS.... i came here to this thread to announce that i will be attending autechre @ the metro circa sept 27th (it's sept 20something and i'm 95% sure it's the 27th, idk if thats a sunday or a tuesday off the top of my head)... but as i was re-logging-in to get here i was putzing around songkick.com and what do i see?

blackalicious @ schuba's tavern sept 3rd!!!!

OH FUCKING HELL MOTHERFUCKING YES YES YES YES YES YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i've somehow NEVER managed to see blackalicious over the years (which is amazing cuz gift of gab (MC) has been in/around my top-5 since the late 90s)

so yeah i had noticed that blackalicious' fantastic song "touch the stars" off of the old 3-2-1 records "connected" compilation was criminally unavailable on youtube, so i had to go and make a quick lil vinyldump and upload the video..... and yeah this song is indeed 90s and prolly a bit idealistic and thusly "hardcore" in that it's not yet trying to be intrinsically populist in nature.... but the song is dope as hell. and its not like gift of gab has gotten that much worse at rapping over the years.... and their back catalogue is JAM PACKED with gems/anthems/etc.

anyways if my babble hasn't scared you off and you're still reading this, come on out and crack a few cold ones with sini.... which of course is a codeword or two meaning "come on out and smoke crack with sini til you're out cold" and uhhh yeah either way it should be transcendentally awesome rap cuz years ago like back in the day level stuff ppl told me that gab aint all THROW YER HANDS IN THE AIR AND WAVE EM LIKE YOU JUST DONT CARE.... the dude just kind of stands there and raps like veins bulging out of his neck and shit like he's all about SNAPPIN..... and while he might have evolved to be more accessible to people and moves his hefty ass around all dancing and shit, man, at his core is that big chunky dude standing there snapping. and that's what i wanna see.

oh yeah and the dude is an absolute fucking MONSTER at (off the dome) freestyle rapping seriously i have example after example of this, but that first link is bonkers and i think this one is pretty good too.

so yeah i am highly looking forward to this..... way more than autechre even. i dont think i've ever been to schuba's.... is it a good place? for some reason i keep thinking it's that lincoln hall joint but that can't be right, can it?

Van Halen last night.
crowd was a very wild mix of young and old. Younger crowd was disappointed as there was zero Van Hagar and Dave Solo stuff. Lots of deep stuff from the older stuff.
Eddie was fantastic, his two solos where incredible. second blew the entire house away.
Alex solo was good but during the night he kept missing marks and messing up.
Wolfgang..fatass bastard was okay but he was picking his nose at least 2 times every song.

DLR was passable but he did not move around at all like the Dave at all. The $60,000 chili dog story was funny as hell.

4 out 5

$189.50 ??? :? I am all for the cause but I believe Willie, Mellencamp and Dave Matthews were headlining this almost 20 years ago when I last attended.

:? :? :?
That being said, I've seen Mould twice (Workbook & Black Sheets Of Rain), and Sugar once. I was too young when Husker Du broke up..........

I know from experience.....you have to really, really, really want to see somebody in order to see them at City Winery.

It's not for everybody. It's like the old UC/Bulls sweater crowd.

I saw Bob Mould do a 1 person acoustic show at Illinois Wesleyan in 1994. I don't care for acoustic shows....yet one person acoustic shows and he was absolutely amazing.

Underrated.
