As such, it occurs to me that it's possible that, on some level, the very immediate plan isn't so much about winning a World Series (not that they're tanking like before) but instead, if nothing else, get these kids into the playoffs - even in a one-off game - so that (presumably) when they are a team that should be making noise in the postseason starting next year that it's not some new thing to these kids ... they can act like they've been there because they have. Something like that.

Apparently we might not even have to pay Haren anything ... LA sent the Marlins $10mil to cover Haren's salary ... not sure if the Marlins can (or will) just keep it and have a nice steak dinner or something or if they're obliged (or willing) to use it as it was originally allocated.

Elections have consequences.

Cubs are paying Haren about $51,000 for the last two months as the Dodgers are paying him 10M and the Marlins only had to pay $154,000 for the season and since the season is 2/3 over there is only the 51K left.

Danks is making 15,750,000 this year and then gets the same next year.... he is a steal at that price....
