I would never admit to that flawed statistic, mostly because Hall of Famer Whitey Ford missed a couple of seasons while bravely serving in the United States Army. Virtually every baseball expert has confirmed that Ford would have won a majority of those games against Pierce, if he had not been risking his life for our freedom.
