Mike Hessman is the new minor league home run king.

Hessman, who is playing for the Tigers’ Triple-A affiliate in Toledo, hit a grand slam tonight for his 433rd minor league home run. By doing so, he passed Buzz Arlett for first on the all-time list in United States-based minor league baseball. Arlett had held the record for 80 years.

Hessman, now 37, has played a grand total of 109 games in the majors and made his last appearance in 2010 as a member of the Mets. There’s something bittersweet about setting the all-time minor league home run mark, but you have to admire his perseverance. HBT sends along congratulations for the accomplishment.

That's a tough one but don't laugh at the journeyman. A lot of those guys have come up in the toughest of times! Geoff Blum & Randall Simon came up with huge clutch hits in the WS & Championship series respectively.

Let's stick to just Cubs then. Off the top of my head, how about....

C-Ron Hassey
1B-Matt Stairs
2B-Mike Fontenot
SS-Jose Vizcaino
3B-Luis Salazar
LF-Derrick May
CF-Henry Cotto
RF-Jeromy Burnitz

RHP-Mike Morgan
LHP-Paul Kilgus
Closer-Doug Jones

And, we'll let John Vukovich manage the club, finally giving him that Cub managerial gig he was promised all those years ago. Yes I know he's no longer with us, but for the purposes of this thread, Vuk gets the job.

He made $42 mill in 2011, so he is just playing for love of the game now.

I never saw Larry Bitner play so he didn't make the list, but I'm sure that name is near and dear to your heart jimmy.

I know Loni Anderson was a sex symbol back in the time, but I would pick the brunette. Maybe it is the next door neighbor type that gets me.
