Trolling the Sox are dead has been a thing for a while. Would they be dead if 3.5 out of division? Hell no. I do understand chances are low but why troll so hard they are dead?

When Spiegel went to AZ for spring training (I believe with Drinky while Mac was in rehab) he got Spiegel drunk poolside. He got so plastered a hotel/resort employee brought him to his room on a golf cart.

I'm not sure if he request the golf cart or flagged the cat down. I think he requested it.

That's good, Arizona probably didn't need the earthquake if he did a header. I got drunk in Vegas and couldn't find my room and the hotel helped me find it.

Spiegel needed to spend more time with his family so he quit his one hour weekend show and then tweeted about playing cards till 5 am the next week.

Im not sure if its that he's just irresponsible or a terrible judge of what to share with the public.

He told a story one time how his infant son ate literal shit.

if i recall correctly, wasn't the world-famous "white flag trade" pulled off when the sox were either 3 or 3.5 games out of the division back in an era when winning the division literally was everything? or maybe it was the earliest iteration of the wildcard where there were 3 divisions and 1 wildcard and the sox weren't good enough to chase down the best 2nd place team in the AL, but either way i distinctly remember that "white flag trade" going down @ either 3 or 3.5GB.

also i just realized that d and p together make a yin/yang aka "69" type confluence (dp/pd) so its like they fit together and are almost interchangeable..... so are we really that far away from penisdman?

White Flag was '97, so there was just one wild card available, but they were nine back of New York at the time, so it was passing Cleveland or nothing. The Sox were 3.5 out of first in the Central, but they were 52-53, and that gap only looked good because Cleveland had just lost four in a row. You had to figure that the Indians at the height of their power weren't going to keep losing down the stretch. What's more, Milwaukee had just won seven straight (they'd ultimately make it nine).

Pragmatically, the Sox probably did do the right thing, but it really must have been a middle finger to the fans to give up like that. It's the kind of trade that if the Cubs made today, Dan would spend five hours praising.
