The Nationals are still beating themselves up after sidelining Strasbourg a few years ago...The Giants and Royals were w.c. teams last year.

I don't think there is such thing as "year to year" momentum. The season is soooo long, and the offseason is just as long.

I will never be convinced that there is no such thing as game to game momentum. The Cubs AND Sox the last 3 weeks are pretty much the best examples I could ever have.

Are you guys aware of what losers you sound like when you say you hope they get in just for the playoff experience? What is with this puss boy mentality? The goal is to win the World Series and if they get in I expect them to win the World Series. I can have a different perspective on this season once it's it over but as of now I expect them to win it all if they get in.

No team with Starlin Castro in their lineup will ever win a World Series.

You expect them to win it all or want them to win it all? I dont believe this Cubs team has what it takes to win a world series. I dont see it. I want them to win it all of course...but I certainly dont expect it.

Any team (save maybe a 80-82 Padre team that one year) that qualifies for the playoffs is good enough to get hot and win it all, imo.

Exactly. Also, outside the Cardinals, there are no teams in the NL that I wouldn't like the Cubs' chances in a best of 5 or 7 against.

The hardest part is getting into the dance and winning the wildcard game.

Cardinals are playoff chokers with Matheny. Not scurred.

I don't disagree. I guess I'm just hung-up on Hockey Gay using the word "Expect". If the Cubs make the playoffs in any fashion...I could not say I EXPECT them to win the WS. Hope! Want! Wish! Dream! Envision!....yes....but Expect? no.

Radio here was going over stats and Pirates starter Lock has not done well against Cubs at all. FYI.

The Cubs have been jerking around Clayton Richard left and right but go ahead and trade two prospects for Dan Haren, yet I doubt Haren is any better than Richard at this point in their careers.

Elliot Soto and Ivan Pineyro were hardly "prospects." Pretty much bodies contributing to organization depth. I couldn't even venture to guess where they would have been placed in internal organization rankings.

112 and 245. Not a lot of talent went Marlins way.

No they were not prospects but their two less bullets that could be used in future trades.

Again, Haren to me is barely an upgrade (if that) over a guy the Cubs DFA'd twice. Maybe I will be wrong but Haren looks done.

The acquistion of Haren just makes me scratch my head
