I stated in Milwaukee, he hit the ball hard on a number of occassions and I thought that would continue, but its not enough to want to keep him.

The talent exists, the mind doesnt....and for that reason you need to get rid of him

He is quite possibly the dumbest player I have seen in 30 years of watching MLB. You cannot fix stupid.

I would love to know what he was thinking on that play tonight?

1. Bryant is entitled to the ball.

2. he really was behind bryant , but he still jumped like they would have collided as the ball dribbles into left?

and the previous error was pretty bad too...at least give me an excuse that he was moving, a man on, anything....and I know errors like that happen, but they happen more to him then most.

And he had 2 of his classic reaching out weak hit balls...

he will have his moments and I hope a few more towards in this chase...but the ceiling has been seen!

Good job Maddon. Had to be done.

Hopefully he succeeds in whatever chances he gets through the rest of the season, and something is done for 2016.

Corey Patterson would like a word with you.

But Castro appears to be in the team picture. Except he's facing the other way.

Patterson was becoming a better player when he got hurt and was never the same after. Never was as stupid as Castro. Castro may be a fine bench player though. Time will tell. Wake up call may be just what was needed here.

Corey Patterson may not have lived up to the hype, but the guy was far from a bust before his injury.

Thats one guy who did get fucked up by coaches and managers named DUSTY. Had real 5 tools and someone wanted to make him a singles bunter,.

Those tools and potential got him another 5 years in MLB after the Cubs.

No one is more happy about Castro's benching than I. However, I think the current regime did more damage to him than most would admit. You can't try and change the approach of an established player. He got to the majors and had success at that level doing things his way. They tried to change his approach to meet their criteria and it did not work. They took a pretty solid hitter and made him into an unwanted headcase at the plate. I blame Jedstein for his current struggles. He's been ruined by them. He will be traded in the offseason, regain his form and be a solid player. I think them fucking with him has affected his fielding, as well. He's been under a microscope for the last three years, both at the plate and in the field. A change of scenery will do wonders for him. I only hope they are able to get something in return for him.

I agree with that to a point but he's always been a mental midget on the field along with an average to below average defensive shortstop. Even when he was hitting well his head wasn't in the game. Didn't matter because the team sucked but as they get better his propensity for mental lapses will cost them big games. Id love to see them get something for him but its too late. id wish him the best if he does get a fresh start.

I agree, his baseball IQ has always been below average. But, when a mental midget is forced to think about things he never had to in the past could it not seep over into other areas? They took a solid hitter and turned him into a headcase. A mentally fragile person allows that to carryover into other aspects of their game. They fucked him up by attempting to make him into what they wanted him to be, instead of what he was. Jedstein evaluated him wrong and are now paying the price. They signed him to an attractive contract and that may be the only positive thing they did. That alone may make him attractive in the offseason. I believe he will turn things around with a change of scenery. Maddon did what he had to do for the good of the team this year. Jedstein screwed the pooch three years ago.

Good good. Another position that he'll be too distracted by squirrels to play. We need that.

He can take all the grounders he wants. Doesn't solve why he's not in the lineup anymore.

Patterson was having an All-Star season in 2003 before his injury. He had one good year with Baltimore after the injury, but did not reach the potential many (including myself) felt he possessed. Neither Patterson or Castro was a true bust though.

Out of your mind! His hustle factors is a negative 12! he would give up on eveything....

besides the grounders he is taking at 2B tonight...his agent is in the house tonight, sitting in theos box with jed. have to ask Bernstein what was discussed.
