Im going to be pissed if Russell is eligible for ROY next year. He should come up way sooner than September.

And Bryant should have been up last year. But economics prevailed.

Im not sure the risk reward is accurate though.

Completely opposite stance and swing though... Hmmm. Don't like the comparison.

after the front foot moves into position their swings are almost identical.

I still like the bat, like the arm but he takes the worst route possible sometimes and stops short of the wall too many times.

Would look into trading him, as they have OF talent in the minors....and I would be OK with a veteran bat....

I still think he will be a hell of a slugger, but if someone has to go....I would see what can be had for him.

How many members of the "Core Four" are no longer in the core?

How is that pitcher they traded for Montero doing? How is LeMahieu doing? How is Wellington Castillo doing?

Remember what happened to the last team that traded Babe Ruth....

Core Four according to whom?

I am looking for value in trading Soler, it is different from giving up on a player. Rizzo, Bryant, Schwarber can give me enough pure power on a team. he isnt Castro, who pnly has upside now to being average. It isnt a mnadate to trade him, just the desire to upgrade the position next year. You take the risk he might be a really good player for years to come.

Are Cubs fans now denying the very existence of the Core Four?

I'm sure you must know. I certainly didn't invent the "Core Four".

Here is a clear eyed view for you.... they are all doing well enough to have the 6th best record in the NL and the 10th best record in ALL of baseball....now why don't you go back and focus those clear eyes of yours on your team...you remember the #WinNow #Reload guys ... the team that is in 11th place in the AL.....even with Cy Sale, Cy Rodon, Cy Fullmer and those near CY other guys like Shark and Quintana....

Oh wait I forgot your clear eyed BAD baseball thoughts had Jose clearly Superior to Rizzo...

BTW your Cubs obsession continues at a 5:1 pace the last few days ...

See how this works.....

Soler's route to bouncing baseballs looks like he is using a GPS made by ACME from the Roadrunner cartoons.

I feel much more confident of a Cubs OF of: Coughlin-Fowler-Denorfia full time.

Soler should be in LF vs.LHP, platooning with Coughlin.

I never actually said that, but I think it's pretty obvious as evidenced by the fact that they are having similar seasons yet Rizzo's is considered "one for the ages" and Abreu's is considered an off year.

This really is how I see the Cubs-Sox issue. I admit it. The bias in this example drives me nuts.

They aren't having similar seasons and there is no bias.

Anthony Rizzo is having a superior season batting. Then add that's he's a FAR SUPERIOR base runner and fielder.

You end up with a player who is a MVP candidate versus a nice player.

Lets not get carried away. The real difference is Rizzo is hitting around the "core 4" and Abreu is hitting around a bunch of scrubs. If Abreu was not 28 in Cuban years then I think Cub fans would consider him more of a young player. He is in his prime and not valued as high because of how bad the Sox are in the division.

Last 10 games:

.351/.415/.405 8 RBI

Defense seriously needs to get better, but he is hitting. The wind was tough today, but there were two catches he should have made and did not.
