Those were the original CORE FOUR. When Alcantara was killing it (those were the days...) he was trying to force his way in there.

Then Russell & Schwarber were added to the mix.

So the SUPERIOR SIX?

How's that Brew Crew Core 4 doing, Hawg?

Braun - Roids
Fielder - Gone
Bill Hall - Retired
Hart - 25th man on Pirates.

It is pretty sobering to think that the current Cubs prospects may not even match the production of Fielder, Braun, Weeks, and Hart, and the Brewers ended up winning jack squat (and they had some decent pitching, with Sheets, Sabathia and Greinke at one point). And now look at them.

When they were coming up, they were part of the best farm system in baseball. The best they did was get to a NLCS. :(

Sheets, Sabathia, and Greinke weren't there at the same time. 2007-2008 would have been Ben Sheets, Yovani Gallardo, Jeff Suppan, Dave Bush, Manny Parra, and then CC Sabathia down the stretch in '08 when Yost/Sveum had him pitch like every other day.

I've never heard of this "core four" outside of this message board.

If you had to pick 4 :

Rizzo
Bryant
Schwarber
Soler

Prince is a beast n will probably be in the HOF , The brewers "best" prospect at the time of C.C. trade was Laporta...huge bust .

I'll save my plaudits for when any of them can beat the .294 90RBI 27HR average season that ARam put up while here .

I've always been an ARAM backer..he mashed when he was here..probably underpaid every year.

I'm concerned about the welfare of Joe, Dolphin n Rick next October ..These poor guys have blinders on n can't see what's coning ...The Cubs may or nay not get in the postseason this year...they will next year n probably every year after for a decade .

The core 4 was Bryant, Baez, Soler, Almora

Then some added Russell with the trade.

Then they drafted Schwarber

Way too early to make grand pronouncements about any of them. Some were calling Bryce Harper a bust as recently as last year. Others called Rizzo a bust before his 2014 breakout.

Ive been making that comparison for a couple years now. They got what 3 MVPs out of that group?

They just didnt put together the pitching with it at the right time. It happens. No guarantees. See the Indians of the 2005-2008, the Royals so far, The Diamondbacks even in the early 00s

But they are small markets. Hopefully the Cubs can get the pitching to go along with it if/when these guys put it together for a whole year. Arietta has made things a lot better.

Combine the "its gonna happen" with the feeling of "there is no difference between winning 65 games and 85 games" mantra and you have your answer, Joe Orr. Of course, this is not all Cubs fans, but its certainly more than half...at least.

It's ironic, isn't it? For the last four years there was no difference between winning 65 and winning 85, but this year they're jizzing themselves over winning 85.

So Grampa is the Cubs organeyezation, and the rest of the Townspeople-- starting intently and watching with baited breath for whats going to happen next-- are their fans. Really good gif use there, Juiced!

Another great gif! The Cubs are trying to dunk, and the rest of the league says "get outta here with that weak sauce." You are on fire today, Mr Juiced!

I don't believe I've seen or heard anyone say 85 wins or 65 wins is the same, if there is no playoff berth.

Now , 60 wins or 79 wins ? Different story .. If the club is over .500 its watchable ... I'm not watching a 75 win team ..they suck ..so they may as well win 60 games n draft first .

75 wins are not the issue with some teams. Especially when they have made it clear they are basically in tryouts. Some team in town is about to average 72 wins over 3 years, and hasnt had back to back 80+ wins in 10 years now? At the same time GOING FOR IT all that time.

Saint Theo himself said there is no glory in winning 83 games, or something to that effect. Somebody here (possibly IMU?) had it quoted in their signature for a while.
