Schwarber should be playing everyday and Castro shouldn't.

Castro has made some nice plays at SS,but his bat is almost non-existent. I don't know when was the last time he hit a ball off the wall, let alone a HR.

I suppose it is good for Cub fans to finally know if he can play left or not.

Watching MLB Network. Maddon told Castro that this is not a day off and that he will be spot starting from now on. Castro took the news well. Russell is now the starting shortstop.

Maddon asked my permission. I gave the thumbs up,

I wonder what Coghlans ground ball percentages are, and his range.

I'm not surprised. After they couldn't trade him, there was no reason to play him every day. Now he can eat sunflower seeds and not know how many outs there are from the bench.

Imagine all of the uneaten sunflower seeds there will be in the dugout, I can't imagine how many he will drop.

IMU can fit a lot of pigs in his hatchback. He might leave the windows rolled up for the swine to melt in the summer heat.

Vogelsong can't pitch to lefties any more. If the Cubs are winning late, expect to see Herrera come in to play 2B, Cogs back to LF, and Schwarber getting the rest of the day off.

Great seeing Castro benched and Russell at SS.

Wonder if this is a Maddon thing or if a consensus with Theo?

Anyway, great to see the right move being made.

Totally right move. Thankfully this move was made now and proactive to Castro bubble head sending this season into the wind while wondering how bubbles are made or if he could catch one if it mattered in a playoff race.

I said at the end of spring training that Russell should be the everyday SS, so this is no surprise to me. That Coghlan is at 2B is a surprise. But I guess he played there before becoming an outfielder, so maybe not such a stretch and I like having his bat in the lineup rather than Castro's. Schwarber needed to go to LF on days he does not catch and quite frankly Montero is a far superior Catcher, so LF at this point is where he should be most days.
