Australian horror film that got good word of mouth...so I checked it out. It's pretty good but the kid may bug the hell out of you before you get invested in the story. It's about a single mother whose husband was killed the day their son was born. She's haunted by the guilt and it's pretty much manifested in this mysterious book (it's never stated where it came from) called Mister Babadook. It's pretty much the creepiest children's book ever, and once the name is said, the Babadook is unleashed and starts stalking them. It seems to take possession of the mother at points, and she can't sleep and becomes more and more unhinged and abusive.

the whole thing seems to be about the guilt that we let build up and carry with us as a burden, hurting and destroying relationships with everyone as it consumes you. it could be an addiction, or...a children's book. it's overall well done but there were times when i found it to be a little loud and somewhat obnoxious too.

good creepy flick for modern audiences though. i recommend it.
