i didn't notice it with tawny but did with the waitress.

teddy jr. may be one of the greatest characters on TV right now. clayne crawford, best kept secret.

I know I smoke a lot of weed, but what waitress are you guys talking about? I'm drawing a blank on there being a recurring waitress character on the show. Don't even remember one from last night and I watched it less than 24 hours ago.

When the Senator had the stroke, it was that lady who was calling 911. I think he was paying her for the pleasure, but she broke it off at the end of that last night's episode.

man i feel for jared haha...teddy can be such a lowlife. i like that he finally admitted that he is pretty much as bad as (he thinks) daniel is. admits to date rape on his first sexual encounter, and how it was more about him taking control than it was about her choice. and that's exactly why he wants tawny back.

even though i realize mckinnon can't write all the episodes, sometimes it's really obvious when he doesn't. this past one, written by a guy who's worked on "the killing" and "big love" (not necessarily bad tv shows), just felt like a tv episode. a lot of familiar things, some cliches, kind of predictable. it's not bad, it's just not as strong as mckinnon's contributions, which is usually more mysterious and thought provoking.

tawney and teddy are pretty much carrying this show more than daniel at this point. their scenes are explosive.

daniel can't seem to not fuck up his situation time and time again.

season finale next week. this season has gone by fast and a lot of relationships have fallen apart. tawney and teddy have practically taken over the narrative of the show at this point, with the mom sneaking in as well. i like that the sheriff has become more a seeker of the truth than just a witch hunter. even though trey is innocent of killing george (since he killed himself), he had lent a hand in a way. but that face he gave when his house was being searched is exactly why this show is so well cast and produced. it's really a shame more people don't watch the show. i believe sundance already renewed it for the 4th season and that should probably be its last...but this reminds me of "the wire", where only like 10 years later people actually talk about it.

and i have totally beardowned this thread. talking to myself is therapeutic.

yep, season has flown by, wish it was longer.

I'm guessing the investigation into George's death will serendipitously lead into a new investigation into Hannah's death. The officer found what I have to assume is a bow from Hannah in that lockbox in Trey's garage. Only killers keep such souvenaires/trophies.

Seems pretty obvious the new character (think he was also in House of Cards) the sherrif interviewed this week will be front and center in Hannah's rape and murder investigation.

Almost feels like the series could rap up this year if they had a few more episodes. I also think next year will probably be the end of it.

i agree; it doesn't need to be longer than 4 seasons. and i think it's already a gift that sundance renewed it for a 4th season since this show gets no ratings or major awards or anything. it seems like they're moving it toward the end anyway...this season has had a lot of transitions.

loved the reveal that the dream between tawney and daniel was hers, and not his. i was actually a bit surprised by that. but it makes sense, especially with her faith being shaken. great scene between amantha and teddy, actually somewhat getting along. and janet is just a great character. her mother's love to daniel is very touching and sweet.

the only scene i thought was a little forced was john's visit to the senator. it was kind of rubbing it in, which wasn't necessary. plus i don't think trey should necessarily be wrongfully charged with george's death. but he seems like he should be implicated in something.

great ending to the season and i really look forward to the 4th...and i do think it'll be the last.

What a great show. Just finished Season 3.

"See you in the funny papers". That line was perfect. Dad dropped a nice little emotional bombshell on Ted Jr. And I really enjoyed the scene with John and the Senator. That guy is a prick.

This is quite a cast.

There's some good TV series out there for the watching. God bless Netflix and various other websites.

We've watched all the episodes. I would classify the show as above average. Character development has been good. Sometimes the plot drags and goes a little soap opera-ish. The dialogue is only ok. There's almost no action (slow drama). Many of the characters are frustrating.

I'd like them to wrap it all up.

It's back.

First episode was slow, of course, but we finally get inside Daniel's emotional state. He's basically in a halfway house and working a warehouse job. I want to strangle his boss while sticking his head in a toilet.

Good start. This is the final season...so I'm expecting some fireworks.

I'm so far behind on my DVR that I think I'm gonna let this one build up and then binge watch it.

ends tonight. though i at first thought 4 seasons was plenty for this show, this final season feels like they're trying to cram everything into these last 8 episodes. mckinnon & co. did a great job of expanding the story and now i feel like they actually could have gotten this to a 5th season (like Six Feet Under) and end it more patiently. because this was always such a patient, deliberately paced series, it's a shame that it feels more rushed. maybe a part of me just isn't ready for it to end.

it'll be sad to say good-bye to these characters. i think they're some of the best depicted on TV. especially teddy. his character really is the strongest of all of them. but janet really emerged this season too.

it's probably the most emotional show i've watched *since* "Six Feet Under". and unlike "This Is Us", it's not manipulative or trying too hard.

I gave up on this after the third episode this year. It died for me.

Big shoutout to Zack for reminding me to finish watching this. Just burned through the last two seasons over the past couple days. I kinda wish I had just restarted watching it from the beginning now.

I've never seen six feet under or this is us, but I find it basically impossible to believe that there's ever been a tv show in history as emotional as this one is. It's easily one of the best shows I've ever seen. I think The Wire is the best tv show in history and will be for the considerable future, but I'll see a show like that again I'm sure. I doubt I'll ever see a show quite like this one again. It really is a shame how few people seem to have watched or even know about this series, but I guess it's style isn't for everyone.

Going into the final episode I figured there was a small chance but I was hopeful we would get one more Daniel and Kerwin scene. I was not disappointed.

thanks for going back to it, FF. i had a feeling you would be into it. it is a slow burn but i really love how much time it took with the characters and their respective plights and redemption. especially teddy's.

and yes, i am so glad they went back to kerwin in the finale. he was really important to daniel's growth. probably the catalyst.

Finished this up yesterday. As others have said, I doubt we'll ever see another show like this again. Don't know if I've ever seen a series develop so many characters as well as this one did. I was fascinated by pretty much everyone on the show.

Was hoping for a little more closure at the end, but I understand stylistically why they chose to leave it slightly open ended. As Hanna's mom said, it doesn't matter anymore who did it.

Did like the way they ended it with the rapist we never really saw, Chris, the guy who had the most to lose. Throughout the whole series he was able to keep his family out of it and pretty much kept himself out of it too. It ends with him watching the press conference and then turning off the tv when his "Hanna-like" daughter asks him what was on tv. He says nothing and walks away. As we know, his days of being able to hide his past from his family are about to come to a crashing halt.

And in the end we know Daniel is going to turn out alright. The therapy is helping, meeting Chloe and the guys at his halfway house help as well. And when its all said and done, he's going to be awarded millions of dollars for what happened to him. Would probably go on to be a writer and speaker and never have to worry about money or working a shit job again.

All in all, one of the best series I've ever seen. And definitely the most unique.

i watched a panel taped from a convention in Austin and i think it was somewhere around the beginning of season 3. it was abigail, aden, j. cameron smith and one of the writers. even at that point they said that mckinnon had started to rethink daniel's fate because i don't think he expected the show to keep getting re-upped.

you can definitely tell by the 4th season they had made up their minds that daniel didn't rape and kill hanna. chris was thrown in to make trey a little less of a villain. it was convenient but i liked it...and it made more sense.

seems as though daniel's culpability was that he watched her from afar, and then came back to her after she was strangled by chris, finished off by trey (or at least, made sure she was dead), and then stayed with her. he saw her rape and murder but was still high on shrooms and couldn't do anything about it.
