With another Bears season starting,it really is starting to sink in that Doug is gone. I loved the guy as a player, broadcaster and the person that came across on radio. It would be nice if the McCaskeys did something to honor him. A Doug Buffone day or something.

Going 2-14 would be a fitting tribute.

I'd be shocked if they didn't have a 55 patch on the jersey this season. Or maybe his initials. Something.

you know, i was a bit numb to it at the time that buffone died.... but i just realized today that bears games are about to start up and there's going to be no OB and doug after the games. holy shit that's going to be a void in my football universe because whenever the bears blew a game (especially in 55-14 type fashion) the refrain with me and dad was always "hey at least OB and doug will be good" --- and now that's gone.

i haven't been paying a lot of attention to the passing scene, has the score announced what they're going to do for bears postgame shows in the post-doug era? you figure OB will still be there but who are they going to have with him? hampton? [say it with the promo] ade-wale OH-GOON-LAY-UH? jarrett payton chicago media project #28? desmond clark? alex brown? peanut? mannelly?

it's going to be impossible to fill doug's shoes, especially right off the bat.... however if someone else who genuinely gives a shit about the bears gets in there and does their own thing it's possible that we can have something proper (albeit not quite as good).... but the key is that they have to truly give a shit about the bears.

out of all those names i listed peanut was the one that would make the most sense, but then again i forgot he's a carolina panther this year as he attempts to get as many NFL gamechecks as he can b4 he moves on to the next phase of his life. seeing as he's essentially a washed up mercenary now i think his bears cred is still intact, otherwise i'd guess we're just going to end up with mannelly as this gig would be something more in his element.

Same with me on the 1st paragraph. I would go to my buddies house, watch the Bears play like shit and then drive home with the post game on. I guess I'll try the Kozlowski, Hamp and OB post game on WGN but I don't really like Kozlowski. I have a feeling Mannelly will get the gig on the Score.

No Doug is going to be a huge void this season and every one after.

The first 15 or so minutes was great after a Bears loss; the raw emotion of those two was great.

Once they settled in a bit, the show was dominated by horrible callers and they were always willing to take the questions and listen to some rant that made little sense.

OB seemed genuinely pissed , Doug always came off as feigned anger .
