No doubt Almora is seeing this thing happen and he isnt there. I didnt expect him now, but want him to be on the right path...and that would include him improving at AA for the whole season.

From all accounts his defense could play in MLB now,

Think bigger. No reason to trade for a pitcher this offseason when you can easily sign one.

They're projecting Jason Heyward to get a 10 year, $180M contract.

No fucking thank you.

2017

C: Montero
1B: Rizzo
2B: Baez
SS: Russell
3B: Bryant
LF: Schwarber
CF: Almora
RF: Soler

I'm okay with that.

SP: Arrieta, Lester, Price, Johnson, Hendricks

Price and Cueto more comfortably than Greinke and Zimmermann. But yes.

Offensively, I think Soler can perform better than Heyward. Defensively, Soler should get better. And Soler is much cheaper.

tyson ross would be cheaper than price/cueto.

long-term free agent pitching contracts are terrifying. i think one is good for me. give me heyward and then dangle soler.

Why do you love Tyson Ross so much? He walks everyone.

Ross would cost prospects / organizational depth. The currency that has put the Cubs in this good situation to begin with. Almora and Soler for Ross? That makes no sense for the Cubs.

I'm not paying $18M a season for 10 years for a .780 OPS corner outfielder that relies on quickness and athleticism.

I wouldn't make the wildness argument. Arrieta was quite wild with Baltimore, a good pitching coach can fix wildness.

no way on heyward, i agree with imu on that. i would have gladly accepted a deadline trade that would have brought ross over, naturally depending on what the cost was. i think ross is a quality starter and would have been a solid addition to the rotation. this off-season i hope the plan is to go full force on price.

And Bosio is great. But the Cubs organization was in a different position two seasons ago than it is today. They could afford to take time with reclamation projects. If Ross walks the same type of guys in Wrigley...there will be a bloated ERA.

(Ross isn't a reclamation project...but I didn't make the Arrieta comparison. Arrieta has top shelf stuff.)

In all my years of watching baseball I'm not sure I've ever seen a guy get appreciably better defensively.

He has trouble reading flyballs. Experience definitely helps in that.

I think infielder can as they get more accustomed to the speed of the game. Usually, a player gets put in the outfield because they can't play infield, usually. If you are still a butcher by the time you reach the majors, you're probably not going to get a helluva lot better.

he's the type of pitcher bosio has had success with. like arrieta he throws his slider often.

one of the reasons to have a ton of prospects was to be able to flip them. astros just got gattis, cargo, and kazmir and still have SOLID system.

handing 6-8 years to over 30 pitcher doesn't scare you? if the pitcher sucks for only the last 4 years it'd be succesful contract.

Offense is great and all, but pitching wins. The Cubs are good this year because of great starting pitching and in spite of inconsistent offense. Heyward does not add consistency or reliabilty. He adds unfulfilled potential...Cubs have oodles of that. I don't rule out a trade for a starting pitcher...but I would look at a better return (Archer) or less risk in losing the trade (Cashner). Cashner would have less cost involved and he can still be just as good as Ross...if not better.

I'd love to get Archer back. Fucking Hendry! Left us Garza, Dumpster and Castro. Traded Archer and Donaldson. Guy should never get another job as GM or scout.

Hottest player in AA right now! 9 of 10 hit games, and last 5 multiple hit games.

Singles is all he needs to do....

You ever see Space Cowboys with Clint Eastwood and Tommy Lee Jones?

You're one of them.

Your time is over, but God bless you you're still giving it the good old college try. Probably with college women.

Even better.

It may suck a little for a couple more years as you are neither fish nor fowl in the marriage/dating spectrum. At 40, you get the secondary market of divorcees out with something to prove AND you don't have the stink of being damaged goods from a previous divorce. Alternatively, for the younger women you are the wealthy, wise man who is still young enough not to have to pop a blue pill to get it up.

I don't think you have permission to loan out spmack's weiner. I was asking if you had insider info on the workings of spmack's weiner. He might already need the blue diamond. You don't know.
