http://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20150810 ... police-sayAUBURN GRESHAM — New Ald. David Moore (17th) said that he had to stop himself from fighting back after two prostitutes allegedly attacked him early Sunday morning.
Moore told DNAinfo Chicago on Monday that he felt "shock, then anger that I couldn't fight back given my position. Growing up in Robert Taylor and Englewood, it took a lot for me to constrain myself, but never again, that I promise."
The prostitute who allegedly struck him is facing criminal charges, according to police.
Moore was on his way home after having just left the scene of a large party on the 7300 block of South May around 3:05 a.m. that neighbors had called him to complain about.
“I waved the police down and told them they have to start arresting some people to end this thing before someone gets killed,” he said.
After leaving, he said he noticed two people who appeared to be prostitutes standing in front of a house on the 7500 block of South Peoria.
He said prostitution is a big problem in his ward.
“I really didn’t want to deal with a whole lot of mess, so I just showed them my badge, told them I was the alderman and asked them to move on,” he said.
“Both of them began to get irate, one punched on my car, threatened to spray me with mace,” Moore said. The other one ran around to the passenger side, opened the door and starting hitting him, he said.
“She beat on the quarter panel of my car. … The other one came around and snatched my door open and began punching me in the arm.”
The alderman quickly dialed 911 to report the incident. He said he told police to “hurry.”
Police arrested the person who allegedly hit Moore, who was later identified as Cordale Profit, of the 6100 block of South Rockwell Street.
Profit was charged with aggravated battery of a public employee, aggravated battery in a public place and unlawful vehicular invasion. All three charges are felonies.
Moore is urging residents to form block clubs and work with the police and look out for other neighbors and report suspicious goings on.
“It’s important to have block clubs,” Moore said. “When block clubs, people and police get involved, we are going to change this.”
