im not that experienced a runner, but i have been running heavily for 2 years and have only had a couple instances where i felt a "runner's high". in those couple instances my legs feel like they are turning over perfectly and my body physically is in cruise control and it becomes mostly a breathing exercise, and it feels like you can go on forever as long as i have a good, controlled breathing pattern. it has always been in cool weather for me, this hot sticky weather is difficult for me to have really solid long runs without hurting pretty bad at the end. in the winter and fall i am able to stay cool and hydrated and that is when i feel i can run 12-15 miles and feel good at the end. right now i am usually feeling like complete shit by mile 10 so I'm not getting too many running highs right now.

I ran three days in a row for the first time in a while yesterday. My headphones crapped out in the last .5 mile and I couldn't bring it home listening to some scintillating Sir conversation.

I am not in full running shape yet. I couldn't run my 5K without some brief stops (granted Monday was jungle humid). I'm getting there though. I'll be back to incorporating the pushups throughout the run again before you know it.

This getting old shit is fucked up.

First I tweak something in my calf and have to take a few days off.

Then I get poison ivy on my legs.

Today my legs were better so I decide to go out for a run. About half way through my run I tweak something in my lower back and I have to stop.

I was in pretty good runner condition for about 1 month of my life. Got to be so I could run 6 8 10 miles, what's the difference? you just keep chugging along. then I got tendinitis in the knee, a terrible cold, winter came along, got a dog, ah fuck it. maybe someday I'll get in shape again.

For the love of God, I am never signing up for a half marathon in July again...the humidity today was brutal...slowest race pace ever, but it got done...

I've been running a lot lately, including the last five days. It has resulted in an increase in weight. I can feel the increased muscle in my legs but I cannot imagine it is that much of an increase.

I am back running today. A person my wife works with got wind that I was considering signing up for the 10K Turkey Trot in town so he wants to join me.
Guess I am locked into that now so time to put some miles on the tires. I'd like to stretch it to 3 miles today if possible.

heat and humidity here have been kicking my rear end. Was hoping to go 2 miles this morning, but had to walk the last half mile. Going to have to start going out in the evening after the sun goes down.

Troof. The heat/humidity necessiated I snap my 8 miler into 2 parts. I had to quit after 4.5 miles when I started at 5pm. I restarted the remaining at 8.45.

Although the heat/humidity drains me faster I still enjoy them more. I love the drenched loose feeling I get.

I either run when I get up around 5:00 AM or after 8:30. I never try it in the hot sun. It makes it very hard to breath.

i generally run late at night because it works with my schedule, but even then it has been pretty warm and humid lately and very uncomfortable running. last night it was 80F with 94% humidity when i went out and it was awful. i personally am looking forward to the fall so i can start cranking up the long runs again and getting the miles back up. I'm having a hard time getting in long runs in the warm temps and i am topping out at about 8 miles these days, with an average week of 25-30 miles.

i have a couple 10k races coming up in september and october, and i am going to run the o'hare runway 5k in september. i am then going to tackle a trail series this winter. i haven't run much trails before, but id like to give it a try.

I recall they did this the last time they opened a runway.

Also they did a 5k on the new segment of 355 right before they opened it.

waited for the sun to go down tonight and went out on a run. Was able to go 3 miles straight. Was beautiful out, about 77 degrees.

I had some frustration with life yesterday and did the same thing. The world didn't seem beautiful, just something to be attacked. It helped for a little while

its weird how much jogging can help overcome depression spouts. anytime i feel alone and nobody wants me i just run and run and run. it knocks that self loathing right out.

i joined a local road running group this past week, and they invited me to join them in one of their circuit 5k races in a nearby town over the weekend. i decided to run it just to meet some of the other members, plus the weather was a little cooler so i figured why not? i ended up running it in 24:12, not a PR but good enough for 5th in my AG (although i backed into a 3rd place AG award since the overall winner was in my AG as was the masters winner). it was fun though, i think i can learn a lot from training with these people, there are some pretty accomplished runners in the group.

I may have said this before, but it bears repeating. If you ever see me running, it's because something is chasing me.

Beginning of the year I was averaging 1:08-1:10 on my 7 mile circuit. Yesterday I was able to rip one off for 1:02. I still had more juice when I finished. Breaking 1:00 was unlikely but in the heat of the moment I was pissed I left energy out there.

The temp has been pretty cool after 7. Need it to perk up just a lil bit.

i did some leg exercises (squats, steps up, etc) two days ago. so combined with the run yesterday i'm a little sore.

i'm walking a little stilted. if i was in boystown people would've thought i caught the night before.
