Exceptional Baseball Ops ✓
Improved Wrigley Field Experience ✓
Wrigley Field Rocking!!! ✓
Excellent Minor League Talent ✓
Magnificent Major League Team ✓

Management laid out what the Cubs would be. Sure enough they accomplished their goal and now the Cubs are the envy of 29 other MLB teams. The electricity in Wrigley with a team that was built the right way is incredible.

The next 15 years are going to be great. We got a juggernaut on our hands.
It did, but you missed reason #1 why it worked.

5 straight years of major losing seasons with high draft picks and sell offs.

I'm officially changing my stance. I want every single professional team I root for to be horrible for a period of 5 years besides the Blackhawks because they are actually championship caliber. I think I'll live until then so I can handle the long drought of horrible that seems to be required to win in sports now.

Great thoughts on the Blackhawks. Really drives home your Cubs thoughts..........

How do we know the plan is working...because its working...even though it is working in a way completely different than the plan laid out.

Cubs will make multiple PLAYOFFS is my official stance. I think JORR is confusing playoffs with winning it all.

It's a great time to be a Cub fan. When have we ever seen multiple young players that the team developed living up to expectations?

Now of course they can all go the Jerome Walton route next year, but dammit, I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this remaining baseball season.

I'll probably throw some down on the Cub in the playoffs and you'll see me cheering like Dolphin Woo Woo.

I picture the good dolphin sitting down to enjoy a game while sporting his Rod Beck replica jersey. I bet you even swing the arm before changing the channel a la Beck.

The Cubs currently enjoy an 87.5% chance of being in the playoffs.

(the White Sox have a 7% chance)

Still waiting for one person who said they will win multiple championships in the next few years in all seriousness.

And you won't get one. Yet this line of thinking is continually attributed to Cub fans here.

So you're going to be happy if they're like the Sox of the 1990s? Who ya crappin'? You're not expecting a bunch of 90 win teams that never win. You think this team is going to win World Series. Own it.

I still don't think they'll make it and if they do it will be one and out. You guys seem pretty certain they couldn't possibly play under .500 the rest of the way.

It cannot be disputed....the plan has worked. Thank goodness they did not deviate from the plan at the deadline. They are not willing to squander great young prospects for a short term chance to grab lightning in a bottle. Sustained excellence is the goal. Playoff berths year after year, with the chance to win a Championship each year, not every once in a great while. The plan is certainly working.

There is nothing for me to own. I do not think this team is going to win the WS. I do not know why that is so hard to believe. I am hopeful that at some point they will win a WS, but I in no way think it is a foregone conclusion.

As I have stated from the beginning, I was in favor of the plan put in place. I was glad to see them tear it down and rebuild. I was willing to give them time to see it through.

I love the results so far. I am happy to be able to watch meaningful baseball in August for the first time in several years.

But I in no way believe that this is a guarantee of a championship. And no matter how many times you guys say it does not make it true.

Hopefully things will continue to move forward and for the foreseeable future they put themselves in contention each year.

That is the key, to be in the position to have a chance at a WS title, year after year for a sustained period of time. The Braves may have won just 1 title during their stretch of 14 straight division titles, but they had the chance each year for a sustained period. that is the goal.

The goal is to contend & make the playoffs every year...not to have the best record every year. The team with the best record rarely wins the world series. Like Hockey, the hot team in the playoffs wins.
Cant argue with the plan so far as it has been executed perfectly.
As a guy who used to be a huge baseball fan & pretty much took the last 10 years off, its fun to be interested in baseball & the Cubs again. I have watched more baseball this year than I have the last 10 years combined.
I can't wait to watch the Cubs in October.

They'll sprint to the playoffs and then lose in one game against the other team's ace. This second wild card is more trouble than it's worth.
