Great night for a baseball game and real nice atmosphere at the park. Really enjoyed it.

The game was a huge blowout as the Cubs lost 13 to 0. Cubs had 4 hits and 4 errors.

With that said it was fun watching Torres as you could see the potential there and he was clearly the best player on the field for either team that I saw. He got one of the 4 hits and was very smooth in the field.

Burks hit 2 warning track outs.

Did not get to see any of their decent pitchers. The bullpen was especially bad. The last inning was pitched by a position player.

According to a report from Baseball America, the Cubs signed South Korean OF Kwang-Min Kwon. The Cubs were believed to have a deal in place with the 17-year old on July 2 but reports were not confirmed until Sunday night.
OF Kwang-Min Kwon signed for $1.2 million.

The 17-year old outfielder (Dec. 12, 1997) is 6-foot-2, 194 pounds. Kwon hits and bats from the left side. In 12 games, 52 plate appearances, in 2014 he was 20-for-43 with four doubles and a triple (.465/.529/.605). This past season in 15 games, Kwon was 13-for-54 with three doubles and a home run (.259/.397/.370). In 41 games, Kwon was 41-for-121 with seven doubles, one triple and one home run for a .339/.458/.438 slash line.

Scouting information on Kwon is very limited; stats are all that are available. Kwang-Min Kwon has been spending his time working in the gym and on his English. And reports indicated the Cubs’ Paul Weaver called him a complete player, with good baseball tools. Kwon was an infielder during his sophomore year in high school and moved to the outfield.

At a press conference in Seoul, Kwon Kwang-min, an outfielder for Jangchung High School located in the capital, donned the Cubs jersey and hat for the first time, becoming the 14th South Korean to sign with the club. He signed for US$1.2 million.

The 17-year-old has played in 41 games so far in his high school career, batting .339 (41-for-121) with one home run, 24 RBIs and 13 steals. He posted a .458 on-base percentage and a .438 slugging percentage.

"It's been my dream since elementary school to play in Major League Baseball," Kwon said. "I am really excited to realize my dream. I am going to work hard and try to make quick adjustments to life in the United States."

Kwon said he's going through two-a-day weight training sessions and spending most of his day studying English, which he said will be a key part of his adjustments.

Paul Weaver, a long-time scout and the Cubs' international scouting cross-checker, said the Cubs were excited to have Kwon in their already stocked farm system, saying he is a complete player.

"He's got very good baseball tools: running, throwing, hitting and hitting for power; he can do all those things," Weaver said. "One of the things that always excited me as a scout was that he loved to play. He loves baseball. I've watched him in practice, and he always works hard. He also seems to be coachable. He has a lot of passion for what he's doing."

Listed at 186 centimeters and 88 kilograms, Kwon said he is most confident about his speed and his ability to make consistent contact at the plate.

Kwon, who was an infielder until his sophomore year, said he'd like to improve his defense in the outfield. At the plate, he said he hopes to handle breaking pitches better.

This reminded me of that Jea Hoon Ha guy so I looked him up. Looks like he made it to Triple A and washed out now he's in rookie ball trying to make it as a pitcher. Interesting.

Baez is tearing shit up at AAA. Will probably be in the lineup tomorrow or the next day in Chicago. Should be interesting to see what changes he has made and whether it translates to the majors.

Almora has also picked it up enough to make his way to AAA next season. Was looking pretty bleak for him a few months ago.

Yeah, both Almora and Baez have 10+ game hitting streaks, and both of them are looking at 2 hits on most nights. They have both picked it up, which is great to see.

Also called the active roster, the 25-man is composed of 25 players who are playing for their Major League team.

Playoff rosters only have 25 people on it. But they can be anyone from the 40-man roster as long as they were on the 40-man roster prior to September 1st.

I am sure IMU will prove me wrong but someone from the 25 man roster would have to be injured for a person to get on the postseason roster and that person would have to come from the 40 man roster is the way I was just reading it.
