He is an extreme GB pitcher (55% for his career and 63.5% in 2015).

The Cubs may have also identified Cahill as someone they can "fix" in terms of learning a new grip or pitch, which is Bosio's specialty. In terms of his stuff, Cahill seemed back on an up swing. His FB has average 91 mph, which is actually the highest of his career and there have been similar velo increases across the board on his slider, curve, and change. And while velo isn't everything, it at least indicates his arm is healthy and that he may even be reaching his physical peak.

Should challenge Rosscup for the ERA title in AAA.

why would you abbreviate velocity to velo unless you are trying to be some jerkoff of jargon.

Velocity already has plenty of accepted abbreviations and velo is longer than those established standards

He isnt as bad as his current stats say, but FIXING in this case is about being healthy....we always assume if a guy makes a team he is healthy...I would guess 20% of guys on teams are hurt to start seasons, but they are also the last person who is going to say anything, especiallyy if they dont have guaranteed money.

Bosio has to fix Hammel before he can work on this chump.

I am always willing to roll the dice....once again though, Theo and jed get only so much credit here for identifying talent...just like my ability to throw 1,1's on a crap table...lotsa luck...which is fine.

Did you see the pictures of the guys writing this crap? They have to use all the tricks they can to try to sell it.

Much like Jacob Turner, Cahill is worth taking a flier on.

Not this person. Cahill will not matter this season or any season. White Sox used to do this with position players. Sometimes it worked out and you find yourself a diamond in the rough, but most of the time its just coal. Either way it doesn't cost much to play in the mines.

Someguy, the board needs your help in the Amazon thread. I can't figure out what is going on, and I am sure you could provide much needed clarity. TIA

Hammel has a 5.22 career 2nd half ERA...and as I stated, you cant say Fowler is going to hit and get close to his .275 lifetime BA without saying Hammel is going to then faulter...and both have happened.

Fowler wound up at just .250 but walked enough (84 BB) to wind up with a .346 OBP. That was below his career OBP of .363 due to the lower BA. So fans who want Fowler signed to an extension......don't think so. With Almora and now Martinez in the system, they can't block their path to the major leagues. Hammel certainly was outstanding in the first half, but reverted to form in the 2nd half as has been his M.O. Cahill may have figured something out with Bosio that has made a huge difference. A 2.11 ERA in September- pretty impressive. I trust him as much as anyone in that bullpen right now.
