The main reason to DB Lester is because of Ross. This guy is not a major league baseball player.

How many no decisions or losses has Lester racked up when he has pitched great but the team can't score? Are they really going to start Ross with Lester in the playoffs? Yikes.

He has 6 starts with 2 or fewer runs that resulted in a loss or a no decision. The Cubs lost 3 of those games.

Shields has not been great. When he was pitching better you patted yourself on the back, cant make it all about money now that he's been struggling.

As of right now, looks like you made a good call, but far from over. If Lester helps them win a WS, the contract is justified.

Cubs have been shut out 5 times when he pitched.

No, Ross wont start in playoffs if they make it.

Because money always matters. Shields hasn't sucked recently. He's only given up more than 3 runs twice since July 1st. His numbers could be even better too. He has 7 starts where h gave up 2 or fewer runs that resulted in a L or a ND.

Like last year.... oh wait He sucked last year for OAK. Richard looked better then him last night. Lester was falling off the mound, missing pitches, looking like T.Mulholland. Lester does not look healthy. He's making a ton of money and probably feels the need to make every start. He is the opposite of Prior, who would cry DL for a fingernail. I rather Lester miss a couple starts then go out and have games like last night.

If Lester pitches well in the playoffs I will be his biggest fan. I wanted both players but thought Lester wouldn't be worth the cost.

Just watching him pitch, he looked awkward. He's an older pitcher so you don't know how the weather effects him. I know my knee cramps up sometimes in the humid damp weather. He is an All-Star/World Series winning pitcher. He didn't forget how to pitch overnight. He will be fine if he takes care of himself and doesn't push his body.

I hope you are right. Don't expect the Cubs to win this year but I need to see Light Out Lester more often in 2016.

Agree on that because of the length. I think/thought he could be worth it for the first few years and he still could be.

I can't keep up with Cubs' fan opinion. One day he is great, the next day he is not. This is very stressful for me in trying to maintain a contrarian opinion.

I hated the acquisition from the word go. It felt like Theo threw his whole plan up in the air when he had a shot at Lester. It only makes it worse that Ross came along with. This has to be his last season, the guy's playing "Forever Young" when he comes to bat. It was a terrible pickup from day one, they should have waited until this offseason to go get pitching. This will bite them just as bad as the Edwin Jackson pickup, although for different reasons.
