Cherry Grade School. Cherry, IL. Closed last year.

5 minutes from Rip's Chicken. Tourist tours to the Cherry Coal Mine Disaster.

5 bars within a block of the school.

There's a gym connected in the back that you can't see. A recent 1970s addition.

Lincoln Way North is available. An eight year old high school on 90 acres of land. Idiots.

IS it available or just closing?

Many times they dont sell the building for awhile just in case they need it again because the population comes back?

It's available. JJC is gonna buy it and make a new campus.

Huh. I didn't read that. That would be a nice upgrade for them. It's a freakin huge school.

Supposedly that played a big factor in deciding which campus to close.
JJC preferred the newer, bigger campus vs the Central HS location.

allegedly

Are they going to have two campuses or move everything to LWN? There seems to be a new building going up every time I drive by.

Rumor is they are exploring 4-yr degree options. (keep both campuses open)

Sure is.

Rumor is the room at the top of the slide was the 8th grade basketball locker room and every kid wanted to bust that window out and slide down it but I don't have a second source on that.

So I could drive 2 hours to Ladd, stay overnight in a school building....and then wait 2 hours for fried chicken while I'm there?

Man, Dr. Ken....you sure do know how to live it up!

You've never eaten the chicken.

I know because you wouldn't mock it.

I suppose I don't know how lucky I am. I do three guys weekends each year in central WI. Spring and labor day 3 nights, fall 2 nights (so we can get back for the bears). Wife has no trouble with me being gone.

No chefs or anything but the weekends are pretty inexpensive. Gas (3 hour drive), Golf $25-$45 / round, breakfasts $10, Dinner $20, bring beer and drink cheap in bars. Plus whatever I loose gambling at his place (baggo, horseshoes, poker, on-line horses) or at ho chunks if it rains. But I am not a big roller like you guys here.

Call me crazy....not overly appealing. I'd rather go on a Motorcycle trip. Maybe 10 yrs from now I'll feel the need for a guys get away, but the GF is so cool, I'd just assume go away with her and other friends.

During my 1st marriage...I would have loved something like this but wouldn't have had the $$.
