It's hard to fathom that it's been 3 weeks since the events leading to my brother being at Loyola.

The kid is getting better every day. When I came to see him this morning, he could actually talk to me. I couldn't believe it. He's been off sedation for almost a week but unable to communicate due to the tracheostomy they performed in order to remove the breathing tube from his mouth. They gave him a plastic piece that fits on the end of his trach tube. It acts like an amplifier. It's pretty wild.

He still has a LONG way to go, but that dude is THE toughest mf'er I know.

I appreciate all of the posts, both public and private, serious and joking. This place never disappoints.

UPDATE: due to the fever they can't pinpoint the origin of, we were just told he might have to have surgery to replace the hardware (defibrillator) in his chest as the ledes may be the cause. They ran a camera down his throat to take a look at his heart and think it might be his defibrillator's wires causing the fevers. He would have the surgery Wednesday. Jesus. The kid's been thru enough.

Have him start reading my posts ,Ed. The recuperative powers are amazing.

The coincidental thing is that when he was at Loyola in 1995, Kramer had that great year with the beloved. Hearing the news about Kramer while visiting my brother in Loyola again was bizarre.

I have no idea what's going on, but best wishes to your brother. Talk to St. Joseph, tell him the Hatch-man sent you. He'll take care of you.
