He hires the magicians and penguins.

He resists the urge to bunt every time someone is on base

That is definitely a positive. But one would think a relatively intelligent chimpanzee could understand the negative effects of bunting. If that's what we're basing Maddon's excellence on, I'll agree, but it calls into question the competence of his mentor, the Great Mike Scioscia.

You would THINK, but that is not the case with most managers

We agree on Scioscia being massively overrated.

2015 2.06 BB/9 around 4th lowest in MLB
2014 he was one of 2 umps with a BB/9 of less than 2
2013 2.19 BB/9 which I think was lowest in MLB

this guy moves baseball lines

Coughlan and Castro are going to be nice trade bait for the Cub in the off season. They might be able to bring back a middle of the rotation starter and the Cubs could avoid having to dive into the free agent pool.

I was never a Hendricks guy, knew he was over rated..his stuff isn't good..Way too many 5th starters in this rotation.

Great to see Babe Bryant get a hit and do something other than strike out and be bad.

Good grief. Are the Braves going to have the bat boy warming up to pitch? This has gotta be the fifth different pitcher...

Strop has been mostly good this year. He's had a few rough outings, but many, many good ones. He probably has some of the best stuff of all the relief pitchers.

Being mostly good is what keeps you on a Roster....a few rough outings lets you pitch the 7th, 1 great pitch that works 75% of the time...not a fan of that. I think teams sit on his splitter, have some stats on it...and they tell guys to just swing at it, 25% chance it doesnt split and it is the dead fastball it looks like, then it leaves the park.

Which is a result of a hitter having confidence in his swing..and if I am batting against a guy who looks like a goof, I am swing as if he is going to make a mistake.

Whooping up on AAA teams is part of the gig, I dont fault them for it. Plenty of teams dont do this....like Washington , who is falling apart. Its a step in becoming known as one of trhe better teams in baseball, which I feel very good in saying the Cubs are just that, but there are teams better....unfortunate 2 are in their divsion!

Haren just gave up an opposite field blast to a guy batting .160 when up two strikes on him. Bad trade.

I know it's been brought up here before, but this ABC 7 "Personality" interview stuff is getting cringe worthy.

Who thought this was a good idea? And what's the end goal with these segments? Are more baseball fans going to tune into channel 7 because of this? How many "Personalities" are left on the ABC roster?

Every ball hit in the air Len Harrelson says well hit...this guy is quickly becoming the most annoying announcer in town
