At the trade deadline the Texas Rangers were 50-52 and in 4th place for the second wildcard spot. They bought at the deadline and as of today they are 63-59 and hold the second wildcard spot. They jumped over 4 TEAMS!!!! This accomplishment is nothing short of a miracle.

For the record the Sox (who sat on their hands) were 49-52 and .5 behind the miraculous Rangers at the deadline.

FOR THE RECORD...I said GO FOR IT.....why not? Now, I didnt give my detailed plan of "going for it", but yes, I thought they should have added to make said jump.

Now the question is who is the person in the organization that didnt or couldnt get anything done?

Well the Rangers had also just beaten the Angels 2 of 3 and Split with the Yankees leading up to the deadline. The Sox rolled to 7 straight wins over teams even worse than them leading up to the deadline just to get to within sniffing distance of .500.

Not sure what that has to do with anything. They were under.500 and had 4 teams to jump over. They were clearly not a contender at the deadline.

Hard to play cards when you do not have any.

That's the luxury of being able to take on money for a guy like Hamels for the next few years and then if it works out in the meantime....gravy

So the Sox were stupid for not selling, and the Cubs were stupid for not buying.

I think the issue was an inability to see into the future.

Yeah..but the Jays had the best hitting in mlb ..n they are in a real weak division. The Sox couldn't take on Tulo salary or afford Price.

Huh ? The Cubs played it pretty good, I wouldn't have grabbed Haren..he's no good .

The Sox should have moved the Guppy, anyone could have seen that fools gold.

If not selling and then going on a period of losing is bad then so is not buying and then going on a period of winning.

The fact is that both the Sox and the Cubs stayed pat and just rolled with what they had and let it play out. It was the right choice for both of them.

As of today the Rangers have a 2.5 game lead for the 2nd wildcard and are 1 game behind the division leading Astros.
