Watched Cards post game last night and they are getting worried. Pirates and Cubs not going away and Cards not playing so well. Usually it is all cocky and smarmy not so much recently.

Fowler is growing on me, keep him around for a 2 year deal.

I have no problem with Fowler returning, just not at the Elisbury type contract that Jessie Rogers was advocating for earlier in the week.

Damn the Braves are awful. Cubs doing what they should though. The bats have been hot this week. Hopefully we can get 2 of 3 from the Giants, or just avoiding getting swept. Facing Cain, Peavy, and Bum, should be able to get 1 or 2 easily.

Nor should they. Albert Almora will be up with the club by this time next season and to block him from ascending to the major leagues for 3 years, would be stupid. He is the next cornerstone. his defense has been major league ready for more than a year now and he will be an upgrade over Fowler defensively IMMEDIATELY. Offensively he has made great strides in the last 2 months. I would offer Fowler a one year contract with a team option for a 2nd year, no more. if he walks, Theo can find another option that will work for 1 season.

I haven't been a Fowler fan. But, he has been good since the break. Almora is an upgrade only cause he's making the league minimum.

If Fowler continues his current pace for the next two months, I will be his biggest fan and hope he performs just as well for whatever team he plays for next season.

Yes, they really needed him to go deeper in the game than he had been of late. It gave the bullpen a day off, for the more crucial elements of the bullpen. Using guys like Russell, Motte and Richard and not getting hurt by it, was outstanding. Hammel has to pitch well in the postseason for them to have any chance at all in a series. Good to see him have a nice game. Now, he needs to follow it up with a good game against the Dodgers in his next start to make a real statement.

Not true. Almora would be a better defender than Fowler right now, if he replaced him. He takes better routes on balls, has more speed and scouts have said for 2 seasons that he was major league ready defensively and will be a gold glove candidate if he can hit enough to play on an everyday basis. The offense has been the only question. Fowler has been outstanding for the most part, since the break. I would love to bring him back. But on a 1 year contract, with a 2nd year option.

No...you said Almora would only be an upgrade only because he would make the league minimum. That is wrong. Almora would be a defensive upgrade immediately. Fowler is not a bad defensive player, but Almora is exceptional defensively and would be an upgrade.
