New movie coming out. Staring Spaulding.

No joke. Actual movie about the Chicago suburb. I never heard about this.

BEE got involved in this. Growing up in that town and having read the shitty novel I couldn't believe they made this movie. They have been trying for 10 years. The story is nothing like the novel and BEE hasn't had much success with his movies.

My dead relatives are buried in some schmuck's back yard in DG, so I just traipse through their driveway and give them the stinkeye if I see them. Ah, the benefits of being Pierce Downer's GGGG Grandson.

I used to party in that cemetery. The strangest thing ever. I would always take people over there because it is just so odd. My classmate lived in Pierce's house up the hill after school we would hang out there.

I love BEE the author, the podcaster but not really the movie maker. This book was tripe I really don't know how he can spruce it up. It was originally supposed to star Hayden Panidroppedoffthefaceoftheearth. Bret is best when he is self autobiographical I just don't see what in this story he relates too. I guess he can kinda go to "Lunar Park" with it. Mood wise because that was well his most autobiographical story with homage to King. Yeah I am watching it but just because I need to inflict self hurt.

The curse IS Downer's Grove

It should have been a zombie movie where the zombies, instead of attacking anything, just keep going on with their everyday routine like nothing changed

I really liked Lunar Park.

Imperial Bedrooms was OK but a step back.

Absolutely not based off real events unless you consider Macho Man being a random death post high school or Denise Richards career.

Downers North or South? I went to Downers North and yeah, someone died my senior year. The only curse in Downers Grove was my ex wife. She still haunts me years later.

A friend had their baby baptized in the old church. It is creepy walking up to the church because it is located in the middle of a cemetery. I was walking to the church and told my wife, "I see dead people."

1 Star
A Memorable Book...
ByL. Gillis "MissL"on February 10, 2011

Format: Paperback

I read this book probably 5 or 6 years ago and I have to say it is one of the most memorable I have ever read. I try to read at least 20 books per year so in the past ten years there have been many....and this one I keep remembering. Unfortunately, the reasons I remember it are not positive. I remember this standing out as one of the worst books I have ever read. In fact, when posed the question, "What is the worst book you have ever read?" This was the one which sprung to mind.

I really like Lunar Park. I thought it was fun and pretty BEE mocking himself but more campy like Craven did with Scream. His favorite book is Glamorama and that is the only one I haven't read. You listen to his podcast at all? Omg it is entertaining. He is as vapid and intelligent as he portrays himself. The ego on that guy. The shallowness. The great taste in film ( he sucks at film though stick to being a critic). I love it when he gets shut down by guests. Gus Van Sant was so great because he so wanted to connect. The portlandia one was awesome because Fred was livid. The Rules of Attraction was the film he had the most to do with and was pretty good. He had little control over Less than and American. The informers was supposed to be his but the studio took that over and put out something unwatchable.

Yeah I was a north grad too. What year? We had a lot of deaths but nothing unusual every town does. Well there was the one with this unstable girl.

I was 94' but graduated in 93. We likely know each other. Who were you thinking off in specific who died. More recently I think of Russ Not that it is recent. Danny Schmuck from 95'. There are a lot. Matt Erpinbach. Nothing that would qualify as a curse though. You know Wardlow works there now.

I forgot the girls name. She died of heart problems if I am remembering correctly. It might have been my junior year. Will have to go break out the old yearbook and see if I can find her name. What was Wardlow's first name? My high school memories are a little fuzzy. I still remember all the hot chicks though. Did Meridith Welch ever get on T.V? I know she told me she left Comcast Sports for a job at NBC as a writer. I thought for sure someone would hire her as an anchor woman.

That would be Jackie Nichols. If you remember Basil we did a tribute radio show to her after she passed.

Oh and it is Brian Wardlow. He was a basketball player. Him and Mike Stanley. I still see guys like Nels Carlson and Mike Camfield a lot as they are in the same industry.
