He had a good 2014, not just half a season.

Fowler had to get white hot to approach Eaton's down year this year and Fowler is going to be a 20 million dollar per year player according to Jesse

You just listened to Jessie Rogers? LOL

Eaton hopes to have Fowlers career to date....and i dont think Fowler has been Great or is a $20 mill guy, he is a good player, who had a bad 1st half.

Fowler is batting .313 int he second half with a .452 OBP....for a leadoff, yeah, thats really good.

Eaton had a nice 2nd half last year as well, when it didnt matter.

The reason the Sox signed Eaton was they thought they got another "Great Deal",,,,and we know Jerry loves a deal....LONG history of that shit with all players on his teams.

He's a better offensive player so far. Over time, will his offense be enough better to make up for his defensive shortcomings? Probably not if they keep him at third base. If they can hide him in left or at first.

Yep, better so far, ON THE FIELD. Has nothing to do with hopes and dreams like you wish it did.

So then you admit that Adam Eaton is better than Addison Russell?

30 of 30 GMs would select Russell.

Absolutely

Nope.

Adam Eaton is a below average CF

Russell is an average SS

At this point

We cant pretend Russel's first half didnt happen.

He's had a nice run in the 2nd half with the 800 OPS but over the season Eaton has been better without question.

Are we really comparing rookies with journeymen OF's? Stop yourselves. This doesn't even deserve a response.

Journeyman.

RPB is fighting so hard against the stereotype the rest of you are reinforcing.

It's quite a thing.

bigfan earlier said something about how Ricketts may now be the model of all baseball ownership.

You can compare the players as is now while acknowledging that one might have a higher ceiling.

Bigfan is just trying to balance the CSMB universe from JORR. Bigfan is the light side of the force and JORR is the dark side (no pun intended.)

Yes, he doesn't hit for power, average, rbi's and doesn't steal bases and he is 26. He is in his prime and should be putting up Fowler type numbers. Not struggling to find himself. His defense is decent and he is a try hard player. JOURNEYMAN! Do you call him a prospect JORR? All-Star CF? What would you call him if not a journeyman? You think he will stay with the Sox until he retires?

What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.

Eaton's in his second full season. I'd hardly call him a journeyman. He's having a bad year and his numbers are still similar to a typical Fowler season.

Right off the bat, this is part of the problem. You're a Sox fan bashing a guy who is a really good player. The Cub fan would never do such a thing. It's just all unequal.

In his first full year Eaton put up 121 OPS+ and was among the top 10 centerfielders in baseball according to the most advanced defensive metrics being used. He had a terrible first half this year and he's rebounded to 113 OPS+. For comparison, the highest number Fowler has ever put up is 120 playing in what has widely been regarded as a weaker league. Adam Jones who most people consider a premier centerfielder is 111 for his career. You're badly underestimating Eaton.

You might have to break out that off season roster of who rpb specifically excluded as being an acceptable Cub fan to quote. Some who have come out of the woodwork this year would be surprised to learn they made the list.

Out of 55 outfielders Eaton is 29th in weighted Runs Created. Defensively he's either great or horrible, depending on which stat or eyes you want to trust. The problem is that he is the second best player in the lineup!

Defensive metrics are useless, watch the games..he's bad, I can name 15 better C.F 's n a couple better right fielders that can move. Jorr is morphing into Squack Harrelson

 Actually, you sound like dumbass Hawk. How many games have you watched Eaton? And you have to be at the ballpark because you can't see the centerfielder most of the time on your big screen.

I don't know about "weighted runs created". I'm not sure how you create a run without scoring it or driving it in. I am somewhat sad that Eaton has created so few theoretical runs though.

Maybe you need a bigger T.V. ? I see Eaton just fine air mailing the cutoff man n throwing to the wrong bag. He's probably the worst base runner I've seen from a "fast guy" ..he's just not a smart baseball player..

Eaton gets a huge benefit of the doubt for being the little grindy white guy who hustles, he is the guy who is suppossed to everything the right way and that should be part of his alliure, but he doesnt. So you can keep telling me how good he is and comparing him to Castro, which should tell you something right there.

I'm not comparing him to Castro. I'm using Castro as a prime example of the evaluation skills of THE VAST MAJORITY (not all) of Cub fans.

You know how Rizzo's first two years are better than Konerko? Eaton's first two are better than Richie Ashburn.
