Cubs sign Emilio Bonifacio to a minor league deal. Was with them last year, traded on deadline day to Atl. Released by White Sox recently

So when you break it down, the Cub traded Shark for Russell, McKinney and Caratini.

Praise be to Theo.

When I saw DFA a couple days ago I figured they would take a chance.

I'd rather take my chances with a minor league call up than Rodney. I think there are a lot of batters looking to pay him back for his previous mound antics.

Rodney had 3 good/great years before this season. Worth a gamble.

I'll take my chances with Rodney over Wood or Richard.

ahh, yes. because batters don't have a ton of incentive to hit every time they're up...

Kevin Gregg actually worked out very well. For a guy who little was expected 33 saves and a 3.48 ERA was pretty good. Plus, he was paid very little, so wound up being a good value. If Rodney performs as well, it will have been a good move to pick him up. I doubt it will work out as well, but hope to be wrong about this one.

James Russell & Rafael Soriano DFA'd!

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Russell actually pitched well for a stretch but has been throwing batting practice lately.

As for Soriano, good riddance.

And Garza "pitched his way out" of the rotation in Milwaukee.
