When I was in high school Freshmen girls regularly were dating dudes in their early-20s.

Fellow classmates were irritated that dudes were dating high schoolers - mainly because it thinned the dating pool.

I always thought it was weird though.

We grew up in the same area.

Every school around here had a couple of girls dating guys that were at least 19 or 20 and well out of high school.

We had a girl in our senior class bring her fiance to prom - he was 31 years old.

Eventually, the guys dumped them and the girls were labeled damaged goods because during the big romance they treated the rest of us high school guys like we didn't exist.
