Gee, a hitter having a tough time with Clayton Kershaw former Cy Young award winning pitcher.....how shocking! Cubs should have a reasonable chance for victory with Lester going tonight and a good chance with Arrieta Sunday night. A 3-3 road trip would be very acceptable.

Yeah, better get Kris "Ty Cobb" Bryant a binkie and a bottle of warm milk!

Thank god the MLB created the 2nd Wild Card slot so mediocre teams in a bad National League could get into the playoffs.

The Cubs being 19 games over .500 are decidedly better than mediocre. Their current .575 winning percentage (73-54) is better than any team in the A.L. East or West, as well as the N.L. East or West. They have the misfortune of playing in the best division in Baseball, or they would be leading their division rather than playing for a wild card. They most certainly will be a stronger club in 2016 after they add another top of the rotation starter, but they are decidedly better than mediocre now. Bryant will be rookie of the year, after already making the All-Star team in his rookie year and nobody with any sense has any doubts about his future (barring injury).

They have a better record than any N.L. East or West team also ,but if you want to skew your argument just the shitty A.L. so be it

Yes, but they do get to miss Greinke, so it could have been worse.

Well, they beat the Dodgers in games at Wrigley that Greinke and Kershaw started, so it's not like they can't. But it highlights the lack of depth in the starting rotation that must be addressed in the offseason.

If SF runs Vogelsong, Heston, and Peavy 3 out of 5 games they won't catch the Cubs.

I don't know why lots of guys don't just bunt on Lester and make him have to throw them out at first. If he can't underhand it, it's likely to be an adventure.

Typical Lester. Pitches brilliant baseball in the first 6 and then gets shelled in the 7th. Disappointing.

Can someone pull up the stats for Lester in the 7th inning this season? It's becoming a running joke at this point.

The first run before the abortion of the 7th was a direct result of Lester not holding a runner.

First guy scored from third on an IF single, on second he wouldn't score.

How hard it is to work on improving on holding runners/throwing to first?

Fuck, I'd love to go to work on Monday and tell my boss that I'm bad at something and not willing to try to improve. I'm sure that would end up well for the Post Family.
