Tell that to the guy that posted it!!!! I knew he wasn't that damn old.

Fine, the guy or girl who posted that was a stupid cocksucker.

Happy?

#boobs. RPB, Im revising my Bryant opinion. If he ends up around .270 100 RBI 28 HR's he's had a really good rookie year.

And Ive admitted Lester is having a bad year.

Looking at Lester's season (as well as his last game), Arrieta's season (including this gem) and their individual records against Pittsburgh, there is no question. Arrieta is 5-0 vs the Pirates with an ERA under 2.50 . With Lester's issues with throws to bases and holding runners, as well as Ross being his regular catcher (which weakens the offense) there is no question in my mind that Arrieta has to start the wild card.

That's assuming the Cubs have everything locked up before the final weekend and can line up their rotation.

And then that means you only get Arrieta once in the first round if you make it. Fucking Cardinals.

Yeah, I don't know what record that would be. I know the White Sox have been no hit on consecutive days.

Last night they said the last time a team was no-hit within 9 days was in 1923. I initially thought it may have been the Vandermeer games, but those back-to-back games were in the '30s (and against two different teams).

Imagine being a free agent this off season and for many years to come.
Let's go over the checklist many if not all free agents would have.

*Team has plenty of $
*Team has a huge fan base which will generate more $
*Team is currently good
*Team has a great group of guys off the field
*If team wins a WS you will be a God in that town forever
*Team will be great for an extended period of time
*Team has a GREAT Players Manager
*Team plays in a great city
*Teams stadium has best in class players facilities
*Team plays at a stadium with a great atmosphere
*Spring Training is in AZ and not FL which has LONG bus rides.
*Team has a best in class Spring Training facility.
*Team plays in the Midwest which means minimal long flights
*Team isn't a threat to move or fold
*Team has too many positives to need this checklist

Yes, but I'm waiting for Ricketts to say they need to "bank" the $$$ their young stars will command in 2020. And Lester's contract is probably giving them pause.

Don't forget the endorsement deals a FA would get if the Cubs win the WS in 2016 or 2017... as in, for the rest of his life.

Yup. You can't look anywhere without seeing Luc Longley and Ron Harper in advertisements in Chicago.

Goff is talking about an error now in the no hitter. Was it really a questionable call to give the error and subsequent no hitter? Also, I am so jaded I immediately wonder how bad the B&B show would torch any other team especially the Sox for this pajamas shit.

Easily an error. It was hit hard but right at him.The fact it's been questioned is dumb. Of course you hate the pajamas thing, you hate the Cubs. If they weren't winning then Cubs fans would hate it too.

No endorsement deals exist that can come close to the $$$ from a contract deal.

However, if you wish to remain in the spotlight and have something to do, being a Cub is a pretty sweet deal.

Appearance fees will be offered, but do you need the $5K after you signed a $100 Mill deal?

Some guys enjoy the life of being involved with baseball, coaching, special advisor, announcing, etc.

And if LUC needed the money, he could get deals here, he could probably announce games. Look at Will Perdue, but the man is saving the world one shrimp at a time, doesnt have time to show up to Fan fest at the rosemont convention center and sign old ticket stubs.

Look at Theo's track record in signing high priced free agents over the past 5+ years.

Little has changed. Longley remains disinterested in "cashing in" on his fame and has no need to, having "made enough money out of playing that that pressure is not there"

In Australia, people just move along and I can go a month without being asked for a photo or autograph. In Chicago I walk down the street and a policeman says 'G'day Luc', like I'm on first-name basis with everybody. I can't buy a beer in Chicago. And, I like that, too.

Yeah. The 90s Bulls weren't popular.

Both those guys were starters on a dynasty. They weren't important?

I'm just pointing out the fallacy of "Your life is set if you win a title in Chicago". It's really only been true for the 85 Bears. Everyone else has either been a hall of famer or near hall of famer or they've embarked on a second career that gave them different success. Do you honestly think that Dexter Fowler is in advertisements in Chicago for the rest of his life if the Cubs win it this year?

The 90's Bulls still aren't the Cubs. It's the Bears and Cubs and then everyone else.

Agreed on Fowler. No one cares about Dexter Fowler a decade from now even if they win it all. I'm talking more like Price or Grienke. They'd be endorsed for life.

Luc is just one of many examples. Horace Grant isn't exactly killing it in Chicago advertisements either.

You're kidding, right? I'm relying on my Horace Grant Prescription Goggles to read the CSFMB right now. And later on, I'll be using my Scottie Pippen Tip Calculator after feasting at one of New England's finest dining establishments. Who knew that calculating 0% of a restaurant check could be so challenging?

Nobody is coming here for the 'Endorsements".

However, players do you want to play for winning teams with fans that show up. Not sure what the value of that is when the deal is on the table, but it is considered. Youk will tell you all about it.

99 times out of 100 the winner is the team with the highest offer

I'd have to research this but hasn't Grienke been very upfront in the past that he would go to the highest bidder without any other consideration?
