Now I see why they had Rick be in a coma for the start of the zombie apocalypse...it was slow and boring.

I hope it gets better but I found the protagonists to be rather stilted. More zombie like than the actual zombies.

First hour was a slow burn basically jamming a lot of character development down our throats. Started picking up after that. I think its gonna be great. really interested to see if any of the other people become characters down the road. I have a feeling the nerdy fat kid with acne who had the knife in school is gonna survive and become some sort of post apocalyptic leader....I could see a scene down the road where he reminds the mom of her taking the knife from him in the early days..could see that scene either going the route of I told you so or the other route where he's still upset about it. To me, he had a Harold Lauter (from The Stand) vibe to him in a way, maybe not the full on psycho part, but at least as the smart nerdy kid who gets picked on all the time and then becomes a stud in the apocalypse.

I thought for sure the old man was gonna die in his bed and go after the son while he was tied to his bed.

One thing is it seems to me like the Zombie Apocalypse would happen a lot faster in this world where everyone is infected. I did a quick google search and I found that 107 people die worldwide every minute, 6400 every hour. If most of those are coming back as zombies, think of all the outbreaks that have be happening all at once? Even if it breaks down to 1 person dying every 20 minutes in Los Angeles, the spread of zombie outbreak would be pretty quick over the course of a few days.

Was the mom bit by the zombie drug dealer? I hope not, I like that actress.

Boring as hell, but most first episodes are since they have to set it up.

The casting seems off though. It felt like a Lifetime movie.

I hated that drug addicted son.

Way to oversell the comparison of a drug addict to a zombie, dickhead. We don't need the interpretations of some half talent. Just play the part and hopefully die soon.

The show was slow. I'll watch again. Why only six weeks. They know they will get people to watch

This will run up until the launch of The Walking Dead series. Not sure why so short, I would have thought they would bring it back when the
Walking Dead takes their break but it doesn't appear that is the case from what I see.

I thought that the show was alright. I realized it was going to need some character building and set up. I convinced my wife to let her
son stay up and watch it with me. He was convinced he could handle it, and honestly none of it seemed to really phase him too much.
At the end of the show I let him know there was something out in the car he needed to grab before bed. He was too scared to go outside
and get it.

This is taking way too long to go anywhere. I get that the first episode was about character introduction. There was nothing really new on this one.

I was thinking about it after the show yesterday and I'm not really sure where this story goes once it gets there (wherever there is). If it ends up being good, it is really only a parallel story to The Walking Dead. They would end up like the many iterations of Law and Order

Tell me if I am nuts but is this symbol from True Detective Season 1

Image

The same symbol the boyfriend draws on the daughter's arm in Fear the Walking Dead

This episode was better, but still this show is missing something.

The only interesting character is the high school kid that actually understands what is going on and was preparing.

I'm starting to root for the whole family to be killed. How dense do you have to be to not understand that bad stuff is here? In real life, people clear the stores of milk and bread when a foot of snow is predicted and yet these people are pretty much just hanging out at home waiting around when they've already seen zombies?

The woman and the kid at the school cleaned out a good portion of the cafeteria, but ended up not taking any of it after their run-in with the zombie in the school. I didn't understand that. You would think after that encounter, they would both understand how fucked up things are about to get.

THis show is fantastic! Loving the start of the ZA and how people react.

Love the arm chair zombiests in this thread saying "of if this happened I would be doing this and then this and then this. God these people are so stupid for not doing those things". Fact is, if any of you lived in a world where you never heard of zombies and all of the sudden there were zombies you would have no clue how you would react.

Loving the buildup of the show, loving how quickly things are falling apart. Love the characters, my only qualm is them not telling the daughter what was going on, even if they weren't completely sure themselves.

ONly thing that sucks is that this is only 6 episodes long. :(

Did you catch the two shots of the airplane flying over head? Later this year there will be a half hour special show which will be about a plane that is heading to LA that gets overrun with zombies. Next season on FTWD one of the characters from that special will join the cast full time. I"m guessing one of the planes being shown in the air is a little foreshadowing to that series.

I don't agree with that. At this point they don't really know the scope of what is happening. They don't know they are essentially dealing with an extinction level event. They just had their first full on encounter with a zombie attack and obviously they are a little rattled by having to just kill the principal. Not going to hold it against them that they panicked and left all the food.

Also, you say "in real life" but in all those real life events people are given ample warning that something is coming. So they have time to stock up. In FTWD, everything was fine when they woke up, but 5 pm there is total gridlock and panic. Not exactly enough time to run down to walmart with a shopping list. Unless you are saying that the news is "predicting a foot of zombies" in which case then yes, they should've heeded that warning.

You're nuts. That was one of the most intense hours of TV I've seen in a long time. We're 2 episodes in and we're now in full on ZA. I don't see how you can say it took a long time to get there.

Agreed. Better episode than the pilot, well paced.

Loved the scene of the dad staring at the cop has the cop piles supplies in his car.

I prepared more for coming of hurricanes than these people are.

I understand them not believing the brother because he was high, but then they all witnessed the same thing. Go get some canned meats and water.

Yea, that was a great moment. The cop had a kinda guilty-but-too-fucking-bad look on his face.

And those hurricanes you prepared for, were you warned of their existence before they arrived? Or did you wait for the eye to pass through so you could run out to Sam's Club?

There's been 2 episodes, not 3. They've taken place during at most 2-3 days. They didn't realize zombies were happening until the last day and the second they figured it out they started gathering the family so they can take off.

I was warned but these guys are literally splitting apart and traveling all around the city.

Heck, the mother, addict brother, and sister was a seizure away from all being in separate places and none of them were to get supplies besides drugs.

I already answered this but I have to say that you know that "Few" doesn't necessarily mean three right?

nope, where I come from a few means 3. If you want to say 2 say a couple. If there's some technical definition that states that a few could mean 2 then you are in the vast minority of people who know and use that. The majority associate few with 3 and a couple with 2 so I would advise using those terms so as not to confuse your point.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fewIf it's ok, I'll use the dictionary definition.

But hey, I understand your confusion in thinking that I had actually thought I had watched three episodes instead of two.

Oh yea I forgot how the second the dad realized the gravity of the situation he ran out to Redbox to grab some blu rays and then he stopped off at the library to return some over do books before heading over to the dry cleaners.

Maybe in the next ZA they'll realize that you should stay together unless an absolute unavoidable emergency such as the dad needing to go pick up his son or the mom needing to get some meds for her son. Oh wait, that's exactly what happened last night.

YOu knew exactly what you were doing when you said few instead of couple. You're just trying to artificially bolster your point with deceptive language. No big deal, you got caught. Next time feel free to bolster your point with logic and facts instead if any are available.
