Until we stop drafting poorly, there's no getting out of it. You cannot have your two of your highest three picks not playing when you're thin everywhere.

Next year won't be much better, even if we do get the number one or two overall in the draft. Have to go defense and just patch the offense best you can through free agency. All positions on the second and third level are in need of upgrading. I don't see how Shea McClellin can be leader of your defense, when last year people were wondering whether he could even play football. However much lipstick you put on the pig, it's still a pig. You need Lawrence Taylor in the middle, not Shea McClellin.

The early show with Mulley and Hanley was like a funeral for the Bears. Nothing coming out of Z.Z.'s mouth during B&B was encouraging either. This is a minimum two-year rebuild, I'm sorry to say.

I said it was a five year rebuild but everyone scoffed. Scoff Scoff Scoff.

While the Cubs hit the perfect storm of MLB rebuilding the NFL is a much different animal.
I've never been more apathetic about a Bears or NFL season.
Really looking forward to a great college football season. Other than if the Bears are good I've shockingly turned into someone that enjoys college football Saturdays much more than NFL Sundays.

This year and even next year dont really matter. Bears have a real coaching staff for the first time in forever and this year is about implementing their systems and schemes, and next year will be more retooling of the roster. I trust this coaching staff and while this team will be weak, I will still wear my 34 jersey every sunday, watch every game and will enjoy seeing the new schemes and coaching.

NFL should be a fairly short term solution. Rosters turn over every 3 years on average.

Sure, he's a fucking nut job, but that nut job was the only one who competed last year (playing hurt). At least he appeared to give a shit. That nut job is one of the top 5 WR in the league and made 17 better by creating coverage mismatches.

By trading 'locker room cancer' Brandon Marshall, they created a huge hole at WR.

A hole that was then filled with the #7 pick in the draft. A draft that featured many strong pass rushers.

The NFL has two positions of major impact - QB and pass rusher. Not WR. Name me the top tier balls out WR who won a SB. Reggie Wayne maybe?

Andre Johnson? Megatron? Antonio Brown? Marshall? AJ Green? Thomas? Dez?

Nothing.

Speaking of football hell, Marshall has never played in a playoff game.

Let him go. He wasn't worth the trouble. If they suck without him, they would have sucked with him.

Crazy talk. College games are fun to attend and much more affordable. They also are played generally in nicer weather and locations

Still the pro games are played at a much higher skill level and are more competitive. The atmosphere is a lot of fun

I think you are underselling the college experience. The styles are more varied. The rivalries are much more intense. Saturday football > Sunday football. The regular season matters more. There is a logical connection to the team/school that doesn't exist with the pros.

Obviously the skill level is higher but in my opinion the desire of the NFL to have parity across the league has turned much of it into the sports equivalent of coin flips.

My stance has always been that the NFL is better, but I like college football more.

I enjoy the college experience. I go to at least three games a year on levels ranging from D III to D I. The ritual makes it fun.

It may not be true for all NFL cities but there is a pretty similar level of ritual going to a Bears game.

I would guess that the new Bears regime talked with many of the players about Marshall & didnt hear positive responses. A great team with great team leaders & one that is ready to contend can live with a cancer like Marshall. The Bears are rebuilding & it isn't like having him on the team would have made them a contender. The side show wears on people & it has already started in NY.

Hall of Famers Butkus and Sayers never played in a playoff game. By the same token I doubt Marshall will play in a playoff game this season, but that won't be because he's the biggest nut job playing for the J-E-T-S.

Never should have traded for Cutler. The line was a broken fence....it was like buying a Mercedes when you live in a fucking trailer...then you realize the Mercedes can't play football that great anyway.

Yes, that was the straw that broke the camel's back. The Bears never were able to recoup the two first-round picks that were traded away, and we've been stuck in football hell ever since.

How does drafting a QB help you when you have no one to block and no one to throw to? Cutler was running for his life against the Colts. Nothing ever changes.

They have to draft defense and hope they can patch the O through free agency.
