Bad.

Him and Josh Fields should write and star in their own sitcom.

The Cubs don't have the starting pitching to get this done. They should still get the wildcard and should have a good shot to win that.

But, unless Hammel or Haren pull it together, they don't have much of a shot. I think the offense is too young to carry a team through a playoff.

Anything can happen but it's not looking too good to get far. Still should be great experience, though. Fun stuff.

Well said

They'll need Lester and Hammel at top of their games.

I remember hoping for that with Soriano

You're going to need far more than hope, RPB.

Better pitching, both relief and starting. Better gloves that can pick the ball up and deliver it to the target with minimal fuss. Plus another bat or two.

Those are currently being exposed hence the rough last few weeks.

He's shown me more on 5 months than Fields has shown me in 4 years..don't be ridiculous.

He may need to see a chiropractor after that swing.

He's not going to mine.

Bullshit. There were Cub fans touting him as Mike Trout immediately. Revisionism here.

Edit: Bryant not Baez.

Quote:
Kris Bryant, who had three hits last night, has hit .346/.433/.625 since the start of August, increasing his season wRC+ to 134 – 21st best in baseball – and his WAR to 5.1. The latter is a mark that, as Michael noted last night, is truly incredible for a rookie, even one as hyped and lauded as Bryant. It’s 11th best in baseball, and puts him on pace to exceed 6.0 wins. Consider that, when the ZiPS projections were released in January, Bryant led the team with 4.3 wins, and I openly and gladly said that would be freaking fantastic. That’s how impressive of a rookie campaign this has been, and I can’t wait to see what this young man does down the stretch, let alone in the coming years.

For the record: the 6.0 WAR mark has been met or exceeded just three times by rookies since 2000 – Mike Trout (11.0 (holy sh*t)), Albert Pujols (7.2), and Ichiro Suzuki (6.0). Kris Bryant, my friends, is doing something very, very special.

Doing just fine?

When have I made excuses for Baez or even said a positive word about him?

Hendry prospects are not all busts. One of them is going to be AL MVP.

Again, this is why we had people make projections on the site because we all knew this was coming.

Bryant and Schwarber are going down as two of the best to ever play the game. Sox fans need to accept it and move on. With the whole Baez thing, pretty much every Cubs fan except IMU has already accepted that he is a bust.

You said his swing was like Gary Sheffield, and that he would end up being like Dan Uggla.

Everyone said his swing is like Gary Sheffield. And I said I hope he ends up as Dan Uggla. That was when people were still saying he was a stud. And after last year's MLB performance I havent said anything.

This was what I said...

This is what I am talking about. That is ridiculous. There are so many reasons from they are flash in the pans to they have a major injury for why that may not be true.

I think Baez is going to be a good player.
