Just my opinion but the Nationals are done too. The Cubs are in the Wildcard game.

they can't be done with the schedule they have. Mets either.

Cubs win the last wildcard spot by at least 5 games. I'll bet you a Pepsi.

done. Make mine a Barq's.

Good choice. Deal.

ahh, I thought you meant the Nats had that feel...the difference between those two Cubs teams was the 04 team was so tight, not in a good way, tightly wound and had a ton of expectations placed on them. The Cards and Astros in front of them were in the World Series that year and the next, respectively and that Cubs team was aging. But I could see the Cubs giving this away...as I told Rod some time ago, I didn't see this team making the playoffs this year, even after this last streak.

No, I did mean the Nats.

The Nats have the "perfect team" that just never puts it together like the 04 Cubs

The Cubs have the 3rd place with a real good record like the 04 Cubs.

except they make the playoffs this time with 89 wins. I think the Nats have something left and if they get on a streak, they could be tough to handle. Can't see the Cubs building a similar streak this time to the one they just came out of.

Nationals are 7.5 back.

They have 18 games left against Miami, Philly, and Atlanta

Then they end with 3 against the Mets (who may be resting starters at that point)

If the nats gain that much ground on the Cubs they likely gained a bunch of ground on the Mets also, so the Mets won't be resting anyone the last series.

Looking at the WC standings it appears as though the Sox are now as close to the WC as are the Nationals and they are half a game closer than the Giants.

That whole season slipped down the drain when they got rid of Kenny Lofton, who set the high contact/high pitch count creating feel of the 03 team.

 you never give up on that, eh?
