The improvement is noticeable as he only Ks 40% of the time versus 44%

Not in danger zone yet, but while changes are evident in swing, results are the same. The strikeouts just arent as bad, even though he did corkscrew himelf into the ground on one.

The bat speed is evident and the minor league results cant be denied, but he wouldnt be the first great minor leaguer that just didnt cut it in the bigs. Still not giving up on the guy as he has improved greatly at every level from Terrible starts, dont know if this team can be in a situation to carry a .180 hitter though.

The only improvement was that he only did it once on 3-1 count, he went for it.

Yet, I still dont think any player should ever swing so hard they fall down. I know it happens sometimes, but it happened way to much with him. When he does that, I think there is no approach and its just swinging for luck.

Hard to know anytime soon if he can be a cornerstone piece. He didn't prove a lot in 2014, but we have all heard about the changes he has made and how they led to great results at AAA. But I would play him over Castro, Herrera and LaStella at 2nd the rest of the season to get a better idea.

Mike Olt starting at third for the Sox. All is well.

Baez just hit a rope double and then scored on a single up the middle by Hammel. that's all very nice. But it was his plate discipline in laying off 2 high fastballs out of the zone that I also loved to see. Last year he hacked at a lot of fastballs that were high and out of the strike zone. I'm starting to think all the talk about better plate discipline by Baez is not just talk.

Of course he could still bust out, but as of right now, he is most definitely employing a different approach at the plate. Here's hoping the tinkering has made him a keeper.

Yup, everyone (well most everyone) knows the ceiling...and thus nobody was giving him away, but it was also evident the issues.

No doubt he worked on fixing the issues, we will now see if it worked!
