I think it is. Rosenthal and Garcia for sure. There must be a third. Not to mention the best Cardinal is out for the season.

Which do you prefer? Losing the game against Pittsburgh or a slow beating at the hands of the hated Cardinals?

Stop yourself,

Only one STARTER with a better ERA and better BAA....ZIENKE! and thats it....

Otherwise, best pitcher on Cubs staff is Denorfia!

and pitching Jake in that one wildcard game....I will just guess Vegas will have the Cubs as a -115 fave...on the road and a -125 faave at home, which really means theu see it as a 50/50 chance, as way more people will bet the cubs.

While I hate the one game idea, I hate it even more that we need to use Arrieta and then dont have him until maybe game 3 ...of a next series...

I actually never hated the one game idea, but this year shows how it can end up being ridiculous... the three best teams in the NL are in the same division. Anyhow, we can all probably agree Jake won't give up a run the rest of the way.

That's wrong. Jaime Garcia for sure has a lower ERA.

He's pitched 93 innings....yes, it is 2.01....v Jake at 2.11

But this is why they have Qualifiers to have this discussion.

Otherwise, Denorfia is the ERA leader at 0.00

Also, 93 IP vs 183 IP.

Denorfia still at 0.00 after another Scoreless day!

I think David Ross is right there with him, right?

We have two Cy Young candidate position players!

Best pitcher in baseball. The guy closest to him is almost 12% worse than Jake Arrieta is at pitching. Pretty impressive.

That's the beauty of it though...it fairly rewards the team with the best record over 162 games. As much as it will suck for the Cubs this year, it is a great system and I hope they do not change it.

Far be it from me to piss on the confidence of Cub fans, but one would think you might want to refrain from chirping, you know, given the history being what it is.

I'm eating lunch at China Chef in Morton Grove and wearing a Sox t-shirt. Two Cub fans took time out from eating their pancit guisado to give me shit.

No chirping here. I just had this conversation with a friend of mine.

All the people who are assuming the Cubs are up 2-1 now because of Arrieta scare the crap out of me.

The Cardinals are VERY VERY capable of winning this game. Wacha is very capable of throwing a shutout tonight. Look at what the Cards have done to Kershaw in the playoffs.

I am hopeful that Arrieta is going to have a playoff run like Bumgardner last year where he is just unbeatable, but in no way am I counting on that.

I wasn't chirping.

I just found it odd that after a terrible inning, he was too sick to continue.

You're right. I'm looking ahead and I scare the shit out of myself. I'm sure as soon as it's game time though that I'll be pretty intense because if there is one team that would beat Arrieta, or course it would be the fucking Cardinals.
