I don't know about many, but I'm sure he might have one or two at the end. Most guys do. That doesn't change the fact that he's just a better hitter than Rizzo.

Except he isn't ahead. Eaton is at 117 to Fowler's 113. Are you just going to make shit up? And I don't consider OPS+ an "advanced statistic". It's funny that you've stated again and again how great this statistic is and now you're not going to consider it. By the way, Sanchez is currently better than Castro. Or are we suddenly going to take past years into account?

This thread just proves that Cub fans judge every Cub player based on their best year. I remember when many of them argued that Derrek Lee was better than Pujols. This Rizzo vs. Abreu is reminiscent of that.

Of course it did. Although I realize just how forgettable the 2004 Cubs (formerly known as "The Team With No Weaknesses") are.

Dexter Fowler is ahead in OBP and OPS. FACT.

Not OPS+, which Park Factor is messing up because of how bad the entire White Sox offense is.

I dont think Soler is better than Garcia....I think they both have some really good potential and are really simialr players.

Both have Power, both havent used it well.
Both have a very good arm, but arent good OF's.

Soler seemed a little ahead of the game with trying to be selective and he does seem to hit the ball really hard , but these factors dont put him ahead by any measureable...and they both have been hurt , derailng progress for both.

Both have LOTS of room to improve...and I think both have that capacity.

I would consider taking Garcia straight up for Soler, but I leave that to those people in the game, because the one thing I see with Garcia is that he has some Castro in him...which is lack of focus, but that cant be determined unless you deal with these guys daily.

If you have to start discussing first base defense you've lost the argument.

Ho hum. Another RBI hit for Abreu.

Also, Melky > Coghlan

The Cubs are a pretty good team.

The answer to the original (trolling) question is, absolutely not.

Sox fans are pretty funny, They think Eaton is Adam Jones or Andrew Mccutchen .. Fowler > Eaton ....if you know anything about the great game of baseball.
The Sox have a better rotation, Sale, Rodon , Quintana,Danks is better than Arrieta,Lester,Hammel,Hendricks.

Rizzo is a 2 way player..he's better than Abreu overall. But Jose is a better hitter.

The Cubs dominate at nearly every position.

I think we should discuss this further.

I think at a minimum...position players...

It was 2005 and in that season Lee played better than Pujols. No one argued Lee was better overall

Abreu is not anything like Pujols, was though.

Not sure what Rizzo needs to do to impress you. Seems like Abreu impressed you immensely with numbers very similar to Rizzo.

The thing that is really encouraging, is that guys like Coghlin, who has had a terrific season after a slow start, are going to be hard pressed to keep a spot in the lineup as more and more really good young players get called up. Bryant has worked hard on his defense at 3rd base and plays a credible 3rd base these days. There is no reason he should have to move....except that they have guys like Baez, who might be able to play even better there and could prove that he has made adjustments in his batting that demand they find a spot for him. Bryant has shown he is capable in the outfield, so that is a change that could be made. Schwarber is another dilemma, as he is NOT ready to catch full time and yet he and the club want him to catch, so LF would seem the spot he will occupy regularly, while catching a couple days a week, when less demanding pitchers take the mound. Soler should return to RF, unless they decide his frequent injuries in the past few years, along with a surplus of outfielders makes him a more valuable trade piece and they move him. Villanueva is guy that might get a shot, but there is no position open currently. He could be another guy like Olt, who is lost to the organization through trade or a rule 5 pickup. But the team is just going to keep getting better. Fun times to be a Cub fan. Once the team starts up their own cable network, the steams of revenue will be so much greater and signing top free agents will also be more regularly done. Any weaknesses in the team will be addressed and the big blue train will keep chugging along.
