Not sure if there is a thread for this guy, but there should be.

Today's HR makes it 13 on the year and he certainly looks like a keeper.

Thanks Oakland!!

What I really like is how calm, cool and collected he is.

And just 21 years old.

I also think it is no coincidence that when he took over at SS, the team when on it's run.

And yet, Alexei had a better weekend. But i guess when youre whacking your weepee to dreams of future performance by Cub prospects that doesn't matter. #Starlin #Olt #Baez

Sometimes, after I climax, my thoughts turn to Jim Bullinger.

Well, unlike many modern fans I don't view the game as if I'm a GM. I don't care about anything but the current season. If I'm trying to win this year I have to take Alexei. And if I'm a Cub fan and I can lock Russell's next five seasons at Alexei's best five, I'd do it. And I'm biased because I don't particularly like Alexei.

Based on what?

It is not like Alexei is tearing it up right now. He has a little better average. Addison has more HRs, higher OPS and OPS+

Their fielding % is the same. Alexei has way more errors

Not counting today but since the ALL STAR break

Alexei 68 TB
Russell 72 TB

and we know that TB is a key stat.... so You should take another look JORR and go with the Addi.

You wouldnt know a "future star" if one helped you slap your girlfriend. You thought Patterson, Pie, Castro etc. were all "future stars".

All things being equal, I'm always going with the guy who has done it over time. That isn't some anti-Cub statement. I don't like prospects. Most of them don't turn out. I can remember a Cub fan friend arguing that Bobby Hill would be better than Delino DeShields. I thought that was ridiculous too.

But as you said this isn't about over time, it is about right now this season. Right now this season it looks like Addison is the better SS.

I definitely like the improvement in approach I've seen at the plate from him since the break. He seems to be getting more and more comfortable. He's also above average in the field.

I don't see him as a superstar. But, I like his chances of being a solid SS going forward and that's just alright with me.

I find it hard to take Ramirez over Russell when Russell already beat out a better version of Ramirez to get the Cubs shortstop job.

That's the great thing about baseball. Looking at the pitching matchup, one would figure Haren would get lit up and Lynn would mow down The Cub.
