I wanted to start up a thread where we can keep track of the Cubs' continual development to have players/personnel who are the BEST IN THE BUSINESS/WORLD/GAME at what they do..... thus far off the top of my head we've got:

Best Pitcher In Baseball (BPIB): Jake Arrieta
Best Announcer In The Business: Len Kasper
Best [Fan] In The World: CM Punk
Best Farm System In Baseball: Duh.

and idk if this counts since the scope is a bit limited to chicago for bragging rights (cuz lord knows the cubs need them)

Best 1B in Chicago: Rizzo

so where else are the cubs the best in the business/world/game? and if anything we can revisit this thread over the years to add to this tally so newcomers can know just exactly where the cubs are tearing it up at a world class level.

Chris Coghlan is the best at rocking no undershirt under his game jersey.

BPIB also has the best onesie/pajamas in the game

Image

and uhhh is it fair to say that Maddon is officially proven to be the best manager in baseball yet? a case can be made..... he's also the best/most-fun manager in the game cuz he had the pajama/onesie type roadtrips in tampa and ppl loved them there.

also, best GM/Baseball guy in baseball = theo, right? is ricketts on the path to being the best owner in the game when the renovations/revenue-streams are PERFECTLY timed to start being unleashed right as the #WeAreGood era begins? Best videoscreen in baseball, right? I heard beerstain gushing about how it gives you so much pertinent info and whatnot.... i personally havent seen it yet, but from what beerstain told me it has to be the best videoscreen in baseball, right?

wrigley is the best ballpark in the game, right? nobody else has the neighborhood thing done as well as the cubs, and we're standing at the dawn of the age of the triangle building and the cubs' attempt at yawkey way so that's gonna be best in the biz right?

and of course best fans in baseball..... well, lets just say now that the casuals have been awaken that they aint down in "radio for the living dead" territory anymore, right?

UHHHH BOYD.... </SHARK>, i think we're going to have to have IMU sit you down and have a little talk cuz i think during the veritable/"honeymoon" period where you didnt post here as much IMU was on record as definitively saying that Len Kasper is "the best in the business" --- IMU knows way more about baseball than me (i invited him into fantasy leagues as a front so i look manly but secretly i hope he stays away so i dont get my ass kicked!) so I defer to him.

As I like to remind IMU on a semi-regular basis, he is wrong about stuff.

That said, I do like listening to Len Kasper call games...especially considering what my options are as a Sox fan.

This guy gets it.

Hughes is the best of the last 25 years in baseball on the basis of having to drag the legless corpse of Ron Santo through games for years...and Ron Coomer is bad too.

one thing i will give Len is that he's doing better than Bob's new partner in arizona, steve berthiaume (or however you spell it) --- recently i watched some diamondbacks baseball and i noticed that he was ALL ABOUT THOSE FUCKIGN NICKNAMES.... like he wouldnt say "paul" or "goldschmidt" because without fail he was "goldy" every time he was mentioned. and now you're supposed to call wellington castillo "BEEF WELLINGTON", because berthiaume is going out of his way to force those memes/nicknames on us.

c'est la vie, no?

and i can't fathom IMU being wrong about this stuff cuz clearly he knows more about baseball than me in that i'm sure he's got extra innings and/or mlb.tv and has heard every set of announcers a few times this year so when he says Lennie </b&b> is best in the biz i know it's coming from a place where he knows the business better than most, especially me cuz like.... he works and stuff while i live under a bridge so how would i know anything? =P

There are a lot of bad broadcasters nowadays.

Look at the idiot in Boston that's getting let go...Orsillo. Bad.

I long for the days of an Ernie Harwell and I still love hearing Vin Scully.

Not as long as Cardinals fans still exist.
