This is literally made up by you.

A public official chooses to obey the law of the land. Her religious convictions don't matter.

I can't believe this woman is such a hero to you. She is a sad and sickening individual.

Therein lies the rub. She doesn't have the "right" here. She "only" has the obligation to follow the law as it stands and simply the privilege to do her job.

Conscience objection has been a right that this country was founded on.

And also, what about her rights under the Equal Protection Clause?

But I don't think you & she are looking at the same bible. You're seeing the benevolent Jesus is King bible, whereas she and those of her cynical ilk are focused on the fire and brimstone, God as punisher book. At least as it suits their purposes.

Here's the exact quote. I'm not sure she is all fire and brimstone.

“It is not a light issue for me,” she said. “It is a Heaven or Hell decision. For me it is a decision of obedience. I have no animosity toward anyone and harbor no ill will. To me this has never been a gay or lesbian issue. It is about marriage and God’s word.”

Conscientious objections are something that only a private citizen may attempt to assert in attempting to refuse a governmental order. In one's capacity as an "elected public official" that person swears to uphold the Constitution. If you don't like it, you have the "right" to freely resign that position as you can no longer meet your primary sworn obligation as an elected official.

The Equal Protection Clause confers equal treatment under the law, something she (more on point) is attempting to deny private citizens under the color of (her) law and against those peoples' Constitutional rights.

Again, her private rights end were her legal obligation as an elected official acting under the color of law begin. As with any person acting under "color of law" the rights of the individuals she is harming here take precedence.

Nice press conference. Huckabee saying he'll go to jail in her place while she's weeping. She's getting played like a fiddle by her lawyers and will thankfully be back in jail soon.

It is a great irony that Seacrest cited something called the "Equal Protection Clause" to justify why someone is right in denying marriage licenses to gay people.

What does he think equal protection means?

1) ? Fire & brimstone certainly evoke the concept of Heaven or Hell to me (at least the Hell part  ), and likely her as well.

2) Ultimately we aren't talking about God's word here. At all. We are talking about civil marriages that carry numerous benefits under the eyes of the law. Just the same as any other couple who choose to be "married" in a clerks office free from any other mention of religion. Or a business owner/driver/pet owner who wants a license.

He's really just trying to ensure that when this latest joke attempt fails, he can get his show back on Fox. Or at least Newsmax TV.

Funniest thing is that the fiddle playing lawyers are exactly the same kind their sponsors always decry. You know, the "they've never held private jobs, always been legal clerks or working in esoteric think tanks with their wealthy sponsors" type of lawers.

On a side note, it stands to reason that you can't understand she has rights under the same equal protection clause.

What do you think equal protection means??

That gay people cannot be denied their lawful right to marriage because someone else thinks they shouldn't have that right.

Equal means that both of them have the same right to protection, and since gay marriage is legal in Kentucky, then it cannot be denied.

You are putting her right ABOVE theirs.

First of all, the POTUS used his religious conviction as a reason to deny gay marriage rights when he was first elected.

Secondly, The EPC does give her protections. So her's are being denied.

Finally, as I asserted earlier, she can choose not to stand in the way of others in the office and still be following her conscience.

I found it odd in the story today about the release order that said she was a democrat.

I was joking

I believe there was a GofundMe page that was shut down. So people tried. Id guess there are checks being sent to her though. She's a hero to many.

God is kind of stupid.

He could stop gay marriage in many different ways. Instead, he chooses a clerk in Kentucky to stop it for like 4 days?

Just send Jesus down a third time so he can show up in his sandals and be like "Gay marriage isn't cool."
