Interesting guy.

Good pitcher but somewhat of a loose cannon.

Rest in peace. I will never forget how the Cardinals got completely rooked by Don Denkinger in the 1985 World Series. I believe that Joaquin Andujar went absolutely insane the next night and demolished a toilet in the visitors' locker room after being ejected.

What gets overlooked is the Cards were up 3-1 in that series. Denkinger is kind of the umpire version of Bartman.

Yeah he got rocked early, started screaming at Denkinger in the first and was gone by the second. He was nuts, but damn if he didn't have a Power Arm.

Think about the 1980 (?) Astros starting rotation: Nolan Ryan, JR Richard, Joe Niekro, Ken Forsch and then a young, nuttier Joaquin Andujar drilling people & following the leads of Ryan & Richard. I can't imagine ever digging in against that group.

No shit. Fucking Cardinals shit a 3-1 lead away. Sorry you got jobbed by an ump but there were 2 other games the Royals had to win to beat you. Quit fucking crying and win one of them. Andujar won 21 games that year and got roasted twice in that series to the tune of a 9 ERA.

Denkinger cost a team the World Series.

Bartman cost the Cubs nothing.

No.

The Cardinals losing three straight games cost them the World Series.

I believe Whitey Herzog pulled Andujar for a lefty during the middle of one WS game, put him in right field for a batter or two, and then put him back in the game.
