Robin Ventura says he DOES want to manage the Sox again next season

ChicagoSports ‏@ChicagoSports 19m19 minutes ago

As White Sox ponder changes, Robin Ventura ‘absolutely’ wants to manage in 2016 (@ChiTribKane) http://trib.in/1KCXxWd

   :drunken:

Okay, so far that's one. Anybody else want him to come back?

Interesting because now they'd have to can his ass.

Would have been no surprise at all if he "resigned" after the season for "family reasons".

Not really, but I've changed my mind on him since the beginning of the season. I certainly dont think he is a good manager, or helping to improve the team, but he's far from the biggest problem with the team.

he's fine. he's no terry bevington that's for sure. you just need to "robin-proof" the roster. That's on KW.

I think Ventura runs into the runs a good clubhouse doesn't hurt anything category. Unless you think he makes guys make errors or not hit then who cares? Bernsie always told me a manager and hitting coach do not matter anyway...until Maddon.

He has been hurting them for the past 2 weeks by playing LaRoche and not playing Thompson (as OF or DH) every single day to see if they really have something in him for next year.

If GM wanted Thompson playing he would be. Don't be naive. Maddon also takes input from upstairs.

Maddon is a baseball God, he doesn't need to input from upstairs. I'm sure Theo loves the pajama party road trips, and the pitcher batting 8th.

I agree Frank... Thompson needs to play everyday.... he also needs to move Saladino to SS and see if he can play SS at the MLB level( I think he can)...let Olt play and see if has anything at 3rd. Use Montas in high stress critical spots and see how he handles pressure..(I think he will be lock down).

That's for sure. Bevington's winning percentage is about 50 points higher.

 Is that true? I'm no baseball historian like JORR, but I'm pretty certain this team is nowhere near that conversation.

Robin singlehandedly cost them a game earlier this year by not challenging a play in Detroit. He should have been fired on the spot.

I remember that 2004 Diamondbacks team being among the worst in recent memory. Randy Johnson and crap.

they said "perhaps worst collection of position players" if I recall correctly. at that time most of the guys were below replacement level.

They were an historically bad offense for most of the season. They've been a bit better here at the end when it doesn't matter. For example, Cabrera and Ramriez will probably finish with numbers that look right but the way they compiled them is all wrong.

We are trying to win."

Next up?

Abreau should have carried them all the way. Right?

You're starting to make me question bigfan's decision to let people back.

I couldn't care less who manages the team next year. The players aren't there (or even close to it) so whatever suits the club is fine with me,

That's how I feel too. I think Ventura should have been fired this year, because when you're that bad firing the manager is the first thing you do. But they didn't do it, so now it doesn't matter. There are a lot more important things to worry about with this team than who is going to write out the lineup card.

Cooper handles the pitching moves, which make up the most crucial decisions a manager makes.

I think he can spell "Abreu" and "Eaton" as well as most people.

I believe Robin has the worst record in history of any Sox manager who has been allowed to coach for 4+ years.

On the flip side, the team has progressed from 63-73-? wins over the past three years.
